Hollywood has a knack for producing romance movies that capture the hearts of the audience. After all, the possibilities of stories generated from the genre are endless. Whether it’s an ogre falling in love with a princess, or a Christmas miracle that brings in two vastly different people together. Admittedly, some of them can turn a bit weird. 10Warm Bodies (2013)
Zombies and romance usually don’t go so well together. After all, who in their right mind would think about flirting when there’s a mindless body running toward them? This is true for a zombie called R (Nicholas Hoult), who falls in love with Julie (Teresa Palmer), after rescuing her from a pack of the undead. Although their relationship throughout the film is heart-warming, the fact that he’s the undead makes the whole concept weird.

There are a ton of movies where robots have feelings. However, not many depict two mechanical devices falling in love. 7Lars and The Real Girl (2007)
Everything’s fair in love and war, but this can’t be said for falling in love with life-sized dolls. InLars and the Real Girl, Lars (Ryan Gosling) is aquirky man that falls in loveat first sight with Bianca. On the outside, his love for Bianca is sweet and heart-warming. He spends most of his time caring for his girlfriend and even reading her a book to make sure she doesn’t get bored. However, fans were quickly weirded out when they found out that Bianca is actually a human-like doll and that Lars has been imagining her as real the entire time. His family, who pities his mental state, decides to go along with his imagination and treat the doll as if she were real. Eventually, Lars does get the help he needs and decides to let go of Bianca to live a normal life and find real love.
6Harold and Maude (1971)
Harold and Maude live in two different worlds; while he is a suicidal young adult, she is a life-loving 80-year-old woman. The two meet during a funeral and quickly develop asweet relationship with one another. The story gets weird when their friendship turns into love and the two form a romantic relationship. Together, they explore the possibilities of life with a fresh perspective and lift each other up from their darkness. They say age is just a number and love is not defined by it. However, the audience can’t help but be set aback by this unusual couple.
5Edward Scissorhands (1990)
Tim Burton is well-known forproducing unique stories and characters. Whether it’s theCorpse BrideorThe Nightmare Before Christmas, fans can’t help themselves but be glued to the screen. The two are happy together. However, this happiness is interrupted when Barry’s past comes to light. Before Lena, it is revealed that he used to pay for intimate phone conversations with women. This led to him getting large credit card bills and eventually having his card blocked. The weird part starts when a simple romance turns into debts, call girls, and a mafia chase.

Clarence (Christian Slater) is a 24-year-old man thatfalls in love with Alabama, a sex worker. However, things don’t go well when she tearfully tells him about the man who turned her into a sex worker. To help her, Clarence visits the brothel and kills the boss. What starts off as a romance between a comic book nerd and a sex worker, turns into a series of mob chases and selling cocaine.
