Alan Ritchsonmight be tearing things up on the small screen asReacherin the Prime Video hit, but get ready for the star to explode onto the big screen with a new project that’s being described as “MementomeetsRaiders of the Lost Ark.” TitledFortune, it’s just one of many things that Ritchson has on the go right now, as he’s slated to appear in no less than four features in the near future, including the sci-fi action thriller,War Machine.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Ritchson is attached to lead the new adventure project,which seesNational TreasureandPirates of the CaribbeanproducerJerry Bruckheimeralso on board behind the scenes. Neil Widener and Gavin James will pen the script, as the duo is hot off the success of working on the near-billion-dollar hit,A Minecraft Movie. Little is known about the plot ofFortuneright now, other than its comparisons toMementoandRaiders, and that it originates from a short story by Widener and James.

A deal has yet to be finalized, but barring any unforeseen circumstances,Fortunewill land at Skydance Productions, a company that is no stranger to producing hits. Its impressive list of recent films includesMission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,Top Gun: Maverick, andThe Gorge. Andrew Schneider will also serve as executive producer alongside Ritchson and Bruckheimer, who previously worked together on Guy Ritchie’sThe Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

Thoughhe’s been around Hollywood for two decades, Ritchson seemingly became an overnight success thanks to his breakout role inReacher, which helped propel him into the stratosphere of superstardom. Since its debut in 2022, the series based on the books by Lee Child has gone on to become one of the Top 3 shows of all time for Prime Video, solidifying Ritchson as a bona fide action star.
Now, he’s about to be everywhere, much like Glen Powell is these days. Look for Ritchson to appear in a few upcoming films, including the Christmas action-comedyThe Man with the Bag, the action-comedyPlaydate, and the action-thrillersMotor CityandRunner. We’ve already mentionedWar Machine, which is a new sci-fi action flick directed by Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3) that also stars Jai Courtney. Speaking with MovieWeb, he had this to say about the upcoming film:

“I’m hearing really great things. I think people are really excited about it. I mean, it’s kind of high-concept, you know. It’s really a survival thriller. And, I mean, look, I’m as curious as you. I can’t wait to see what they did, but it was awesome to go down and shoot a film of that scale in Australia. And I think what Patrick Hughes is trying to do there, and bringing those kind of blockbuster-esque, high-concept action films, into the Aussie industries, is really cool.”
