Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniadirector Peyton Reed has confirmed the completion of principal photography on the upcoming Marvel sequel, sharing a stunning piece of concept art from the movie alongside the update. “Principal photography on ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA is now complete! Can’t wait to show you all what we’ve been up to…” Reed said in a caption, with the artwork showing what appears to be a giant Ant-Man and a regular sized Wasp (or could that be a regular sized Ant-Man and a tiny Wasp?) charging into battle.
Directed by Peyton Reed,Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniawill act as a sequel to both 2015’sAnt-Man, 2018’sAnt-Man and the Wasp, and other outings such asLoki, as well as being the 33rd installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The threequel will see the return of several familiar faces from the MCU’s past, including Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, alongside Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, andBill Murray in a mystery role. Kathryn Newton will also join proceedings as Cassie Lang, Scott Lang’s daughter, withLovecraft Countrystar Jonathan Majors returning to the world of Marvel following his debut in the finale of Disney+ series,Loki, with the actor playing a variant of He Who Remains, the ominously named Kang the Conqueror.
Majors, who has now beenconfirmed to be playing KanginAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, recently teased how this version of the character will differ from the version seen in Loki. “He Who Remains is in the world now, and so there’s so much we know about him,” the actor said earlier this month. “There’s 40 minutes of that guy and that narrative, so it really set me up to tell a story and add another canvas, with more players. This time, it’s not the incredible Tom Hiddleston; I’m dealing with Paul Rudd and Evangeline and the likes of the Ant-Man family, so it’s a whole different world and I’m just exploring and trying to do the best I can.”
First appearing in The Avengers #8 in 1964, Kang was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. While there have been several different versions of Kang over the years, the most well-known version is named Nathaniel Richards. Born in the 30th century of Earth-6311, Nathaniel is a future descendant ofThe Fantastic Fourleader Reed Richardsa.k.a. Mr. Fantastic, and is expected to become a major player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the multiverse takes center stage.
While audiences await the arrival of Kang,Ant-ManstarPaul Ruddhas declared his excitement over Majors’ performance, saying, “I’ve loved everything he’s done, and I see what he’s doing in this, and I’m knocked out by it. It is really fun to bring new people into the fold, and the enthusiasm that people have is palpable.”
