Marvel’s finalPhase TwoadventureAnt-Manhits theaters in just a month and a half, although the long road to its release was more tumultuous that mostMarvelmovies. Just months before production was supposed to begin, directorEdgar Wrightstepped away from the project, withPeyton Reedbrought in to replace him and several different writers coming aboard to work on the script. As it turns out, the script tweaks and rewrites were more extensive than originally believed, withAnt-Manreportedly featuring a number of Easter Eggs referencingSpider-Manand the OsCorp corporation.

The newSpider-Man, whichMarvelis expected to announce very shortly, won’t actually be featured inAnt-Man, with his first appearance likely to be in the firstPhase ThreemovieCaptain America: Civil War. This unconfirmed report claims that there is “lots of” talk and/or references to bothSpider-Manand OsCorp inAnt-Man. Part ofAnt-ManinvolvesCorey Stoll’s Darren Cross, a.k.a. Yellowjacket, trying to sell theAnt-Man/Yellowjacket weapons technology to different companies, including The Ten Rings and Roxxon, which have been referenced in several Marvel movies and TV shows. It is believed that OsCorp could be one of the companies trying to buy this technology.

The Marvel/Sony deal was announced just a few months ago, which means that, if this rumor is true, more tweaks were added to the script, and it’s possible they filmed new scenes mentioningSpider-Manand OsCorp during reshoots, but that has yet to be confirmed. As far as the newSpider-Mangoes, we reported yesterday that Marvel and Sony’s top candidates for the Peter Parker role areAsa Butterfield,Tom Holland, Judah Lewis, Matthew Lintz,Charlie PlummerandCharlie Rowe. All of these actors screen tested for the role in Atlanta this weekend, whereCaptain America: Civil Waris currently shooting. It has long been reported that there will be no “origin story” for the newSpider-Man, with the Peter Parker character already established as the superhero. The stand aloneSpider-Manis reportedly set to kick off either three or four new movies, each of which will represent one year of Peter’s high school career.
