Avatar 3is sure to be an astounding cinematic event. The future ofAvatarcomes with great anticipation for fans, and they are busy learning everything they can about it. James Cameron has already writtenAvatars3,4, and5and has even finished filmingAvatar 3. He recently released some information aboutAvatar 3per SlashFilm. When speaking on the different tribes of Na’vi that inhabit Pandora, Cameron said thatAvatar: The Way of Waterwould introduce us to a new Na’vi tribe, and it has. Now Cameron plans to expand his world further with even more Na’vi tribes.
James Cameron made a note of saying that not all Na’vi tribes are peaceful, and thatAvatar 3will feature a more violent and aggressive Na’vi people. Cameron plans to take us from forest to water and now to fire, as he introduces the Ash clan. He says that these Na’vi may even be the villain of the next film. The Sky People are not the only enemy on Pandora, as it seems even the Na’vi have troubles between themselves. When we see the fire-filled side of the Na’vi, what kind of conflict can we expect? We understand the difficulties the Na’vi have with humans, but what of the conflict between themselves?
Who Are the Ash Na’vi?
In his journey to encompass a pure connection with the ecosystem in the world of Pandora, Cameron has created different tribes of Na’vi, each apparently aligned with their own elemental force of nature. Jake came to live among the forest tribe inAvatar, and inAvatar: The Way of Water, he and his family migrated to the Metkayina, the water tribe. We’ve also observed the Olangi clan, which is a group of nomadic Na’vi that ride horses. But along with these basic clans, Cameron has stated that he will be addingthe fire tribe, the Ash clan to the mix inAvatar 3.

When Cameron revealed he was planning on adding to the Na’vi population, he also revealed something about the plot ofAvatar 3. This new Ash clan will have a very different temperament compared to the other Na’vi clans. Though the forest and the water tribes both seem wary of outsiders, both have become welcoming eventually. This time, Cameron plans to make the new tribe of Na’vi openly hostile, or at least more aggressive. In an interview with the French publication 20 Minutes, as quoted bySlash Film, he reveals his thoughts.
“I want to reveal the Na’vi from another angle because [so far] I have only shown their good sides. In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples. In ‘Avatar 3,’ we’ll do the reverse.”
So it looks like we can plan to see some heated conflict – pardon the pun – between the Na’vi tribes. Though the Sky People are the main enemy, this new group of Na’vi could become violent and xenophobic to their own kind. Perhaps these are a very isolated group of Na’vi living in the very austere terrain of the volcanic plains of Pandora.
The Ash Clan Might Ally with Humans
If James Cameron plans to take the reverse angle from showing bad humans and good Na’vi in his new movie, then we might see the Ash clan ally themselves with the Sky People. Or at least we might see the humans create a situation to manipulate this particular clan of Na’vi. If they are going to be increasingly violent, they might stand something to gain from the humans. The specific resource the humans were mining inAvatar: The Way of Waterwas one pulled from the brains of Pandora’s Tulkun, an animal most closely related to the water clans. If the humans wanted to focus their energies on that, they could promise dominion over the whole planet to this one tribe of indigenous people.

TheAsh clanmight be so isolated and nationalistic that they would refuse to work with the other clans in favor of a promised reward. We know that humans are planning to conquer Pandora, if only for its resources, because General Ardmore said that Earth was dying. So this conflict between the Na’vi and the humans will certainly play out. But the humans might attempt to divide the Na’vi by separating their clans and pitting them against one another.
Another option is that we might finally see a group of humans defect. Perhaps this new Ash clan will be so violent and terrifying that a certain number of humans will leave their own bases to assist the Na’vi with their struggle. Or it could mean that previous relationships we’ve seen grow between certain people and the Na’vi might flower into morepeaceful friendships, while certain Na’vi tribal leaders begin fighting amongst themselves.
This inter-tribe type of warfare is aninteresting angleto take on a newAvatarmovie. And it will definitely create a more three-dimensional picture of who the Na’vi really are. As much as we might like to think they are paragons of living in harmony with nature, this may be our chance to see the Na’vi’s dark side.
