A brand new trailer forBad Triphas arrived to deliver the prank movie goods. Johnny Knoxville and theJackassgang set the standard for prank movies in the 2000s, but they’ve been away for a long time now. It’s time for someone else to step in and take up the mantle.
Based on this trailer, Eric André, Lil Rel Howery andTiffany Haddishcould very well be those people. Despite the fact that these are all known actors, they’re able to pull some stunning pranks over on people, all while trying to weave together an actual narrative at the same time. It looks impressive and, most importantly, hilarious.

The trailer kicks off with a warning that sets up what it is we’re about to see. It explains that actual actors are performing the pranks we’re seeing on screen on unsuspecting, actual people who have no idea what’s about to happen to them. We then see the first prank, whichEric Andrébravely participates in. I say bravely because it involves him being compromisingly nude in public. We then get a sense for the narrative that is being weaved into the story to go along with these pranks.
What’s amazing is these actors, who are relatively famous, are able to pull this off without being recognized. How exactly they’re going to tie together all of these pranks, which range from stealing cop cars to getting a hand caught in a blender, remains to be seen. In any event, this all looks to be rather ambitious, risque and, honestly, pretty funny. This could very well be the thing to fill the void that Jackass 4 never arrived to fill.
Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show) is in the director’s chair. Unsurprisingly, Jeff Tremaine, one of the main men behindJackassandBad Grandpa, serves as a producer on the project. Dave Bernad, andVenomdirector Ruben Fleischer are also on board as producers. As for the cast, Andre has had his fair share of time in the spotlight as a prankster, but he’s also set to lend his voice in Disney’s upcoming remake ofThe Lion King. Tiffany Haddish, meanwhile, has become a breakout comedy star, in large part thanks to the hitGirls Trip. As for Lil Rel Howelrey, he came onto everyone’s radar as part of Jordan Peele’s Oscar-winningGet Out. Yet, despite those resumes, they’re able to pull one over on a lot of people here.
Whether or not this movie is actually great remains to be seen. No matter how it turns out, it’s hard not to admire their commitment to the bit here, while also adding in the challenge of having to tell a story when they have no idea how people are going to react. This should be very interesting.Bad Tripis set to hit theaters on October 25. Be sure to check out the new trailer from the Orion Pictures YouTube channel for yourself.
