Big Brotherstarted airing in 2000, and what a journey it has been. With more seasons coming, we can’t help but look back on CBS’reality TV show. One can’t help but have their favorite seasons and not-so-favorite ones. EachBig Brotherseason would have themes and twists that made the show all the more interesting to its audience. Sometimes a theme would be repeated and other times we will be in for a surprise. Not to mention that each season’s house guests play a major role in whether the audience would love or hate it.
Despite the different opinions that people might have when it comes toBig Brother, we are lucky and grateful to whoever decided to adapt the Dutch TV show and give us the American version. This decision proved itself to be quite successful as people now sit and wait for every upcoming season of the competition show.

Since the beginning of the show, we got the chance to see each new group of house guests staying together in the same house and how they will be voted out one by one. We see this process until we have the winner of the $500,000 prize. Now is the perfect time to rank the best seasons ofBig Brother.
12Big Brother 16
Big Brother 16first aired in 2014, and while people might argue about whether they like this season or not, it still has its fans. Like most seasons, Season 16 introduced new elements to the show. We got to see the show shot by HD cameras for the first time.
We were also introduced to the Battle of the Block twist, where two Heads of the Households (HOHs) were chosen each week, and in return, they would nominate two people for eviction. The two people then would have to battle it out so one of them could gain safety. It might have been frustrating that the HOHs would mostly nominate the same people each week.

We also got to see the formation of the Hitmen alliance which was between Derrick Levasseur, the season’s winner, and Cody Calafiore. It was also interesting to see Derrick’s technique and how he managed to make his way to the top. One thing that made Season 16unique is the house guests whobrought some chaosto the house.
Derrick, for example, gave us some of the show’s best chaotic moments like when he convinced the rest of the houseguests that they had a rodent in the kitchen; truly epic. While some may argue that it was a boring season, we can at least agree that Derrick played a huge role in bringing the season’s ratings up.

11Big Brother 8
We saw the first glimpse ofBig Brother 8in 2007, and we aren’t exaggerating when we say it’s one of the fans’ favorites. This season introduced some of the show’s most famous storylines. One of them was Eric Stein being America’s Player, where we got to see him accomplish missions that viewers chose through voting. Of course, this storyline and twist were interesting and played a role in fans loving this season since they actually had a say in some of the events happening inside the house.
The other storyline is the one between Dick Donato and his daughter Danielle who weren’t speaking for years. Who didn’t love seeing how the relationship between the estrangedfather and daughterworked out? Dick and Dani’s storyline was definitely one of Season 8’s highlights. It was also heartwarming to see both of them reach the finale together, sounds like something straight out of a movie.

In Season 8, we got to see how father and daughter worked out their differences which made viewers feel like they can relate to the show. The season ended with Dick being crowned the winner after a season filled with drama and family problems. Most of this drama was the one that he, nicknamed Evil Dick, created.
10Big Brother 5
Now,Big Brother 5is one of the most interesting seasons during the entire show withits jaw-dropping twists. These twists were part of Project DNA or Do Not Assume. We had the show’s first set of twins, Adria and Natalie, who played as one person, and none of the house guests knew. They would switch roles inside the dairy room which was actually smart.
This was a great source of entertainment as we watched how the twins fooled everyone. Another jaw-dropping twist in Season 5 is the fact that we had two half-siblings, Jennifer “Nakomis” Dedmon and Michael “Cowboy” Ellis, who didn’t know about the existence of the other or that they share the same father.

Season 5 also included the Backdoor plot, or the Six Finger Plan, which was a first; we should thank Nakomis for it. This plot made us see how the HOH would easily nominate a house guest and get them evicted without said house guest having the chance to use a Veto and save themselves from eviction.
9Big Brother 24
Big Brother 24aired in 2022, and it has a very unexpected, but delightful, ending. At first,we saw the mistreatmentof Taylor Hale, but then things completely changed. Daniel Durston gave Taylor a piece of his mind and that started an entirely new dynamic. The Leftovers alliance formed, and it played a major role in helping Taylor win Season 24.
This came as a surprise due to how the season started, but such twists are what make us love watching reality TV even more. Taylor’s win made him the first house guest inBig Brotherhistory to win the $750,000 prize that the season had, plus the $50,000 that comes with being voted America’s Favorite House Guest.
8Big Brother 4
We got to seeBig Brother 4during 2003 which introduced yet another twist. This time we had The X-Factor twist, which marked the first time the contestants played with other contestants whom they know outside the house. They didn’t just know each other, butthey were exeswhich added a whole new level of drama.
Season 4 had five ex-couples who were competing during the show while the remaining three people didn’t know anyone before they came to the house. Talk about balancing the drama a little bit. Some of this drama included Scott Weintraub getting expelled from the show because of violent behavior.
The final two were Jun Song and Allison Irwin. Both of them had an alliance together, with Jun being the winner of Season 4. This made Jun the first Asian-American to winBig Brother. Alison won the Diamond Power of Veto, and she is also considered the villain of the season.
7Big Brother 20
Airing in 2018,Big Brother 20could easily be described as a mess, but it was one that the audience loved. One part of that mess was the FOUTTE alliance, which many named the worst alliance inBig Brotherhistory. They couldn’t vote out anyone they actually wanted to vote out and their moves were disappointing. Also, what a mess it was when Faysal Shafaat nominated one of the alliance’s members to get evicted.
We also got to see Tyler Crispen, who was considerably one of the best players in Season 20 and inBig Brotherseasons in general. Despite losing to Kaycee Clark, who won this season, Tyler is still a memorable player even after all these years.
6Big Brother 14
Big Brother 14aired in 2012, and it quickly became one of people’s favorites. This season had many great moments, plus a great cast with their own unique personality. For example, people loved Britney’s Diary Room confessionals and how Frank played ashe was seen as the underdog.
Yet, many people disliked how the show brought back some previous players and made them coaches only to let them become players again, though some thought it was unnecessary. However, others liked the idea of introducing coaches, and maybe if they remained just as coaches the season would have been more successful. The four players who returned were Janelle Pierzina, Britney Haynes, Dan Gheesling, and Mike “Boogie” Malin.
Of all the moments in Season 14, the most epic moment would be Dan’s funeral, which many consider to be one of the best moments inBig Brother’shistory. His performance through the entire show might have deserved the win, but it was time for a new winner, Ian Terry, to come along.
5Big Brother 3
Big Brother 3aired in 2002, and it had some disliked decisions. Almost everyone believed that Danielle Reyes deserved to win; she was one of the best players that came toBig Brother. However, luck wasn’t on her side. With the jury watching her Diary Room clips as they were allowed, she ended up losing to Lisa Donahue; a bitter jury indeed.
Many also loved Danielle’s secret alliance with Jason Guy, and what a great duo they were. An event that was a shock to all was when Marcellas Reynolds refused to use the Veto that he won, which eventually led to him being evicted after he was voted out. At least he wanted to save someone else which is in his favor.
Season 3 was the beginning of the power of Veto. We also got to see Amy return, which made her the first house guest in the show’s history to return after she was evicted.
4Big Brother 7: All-Stars
Big Brother 7first aired in 2006, and it was the first All-Stars season. It was also the favorite All-Stars season, which makes it reasonable to place it fairly high on our list. This season included the casting of house guests from the first six seasons which was interesting.
The cast was also great especially with the previous house guests being there and taking part in the competition once more. Yet, like any season, people would be divided on whether the season’s winner deserved to win or not. Some hated that Mike “Boogie” Malin, who was in Season 2, won, while others absolutely loved it.
Season 7 also gave us the chance to see how previous players who didn’t play when the Veto was introduced dealt with it. It included the first timeBig Brotherchose the Power of Veto contestants randomly. Another important moment in the show was the Chilltown alliance between Dr. Will and Mike, which was crowned as one of the best alliances in the show.
3Big Brother 2
We first got to seeBig Brother 2in 2001, and despite it being one of the earlier seasons, it is still a fan favorite. Coming after Season 1, which everyone agreed wasterrible and unwatchable, Season 2 kind of saved the day forBig Brother. CBS’ decision to not cancel the show after the first season’s failure proved to be a wise one.
Another thing that made Season 2 unique was the update that the show went through as the audience was no longer the ones to choose who was evicted. Instead, we got to see the house guests themselves doing that which led us to the show’s format today. This also added to the show’s competitiveness.
Not to mention the fact that Will Kirby became the winner, even with him not being the most loved one of all the house guests. What made his win even more impressive is how he didn’t win any Head of Household competition which was just introduced in this season. Season 2 was also the first season where we got introduced to the Chilltown alliance, which later appeared in other seasons.
