The cast and crew behindBrave New Worldassembled virtually for this year’s Comic-Con@Home. As part of the digital festivities, which are happening in place of the typical, massive annual gathering in downtown San Diego, a panel was held to discuss the brand new series, which is part of Peacock’s original programming lineup. Peacock is the latest streaming service to enter the marketplace, serving as NBCUniversal’s way of getting into the direct-to-consumer game.

Brave New Worldis based onAldous Huxley’s groundbreaking novel. It imagines a utopian society that has achieved peace and stability through the prohibition of monogamy, privacy, money, family, and history itself. Creator and showrunner David Wiener (Homecoming,The Killing) was on hand for the panel. He was joined by cast members Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story,Hail, Caesar!), Jessica Brown Findlay (Winter’s Tale,Downton Abbey), Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones,The Theory of Everything), Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp), Nina Sosanya (Killing Eve), Kylie Bunbury (When They See Us) and Joseph Morgan (The Originals).

The panel provides an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the making ofPeacock’s new series.Brave New World, as a novel, was originally published in 1932. It has been ranked high on a number of lists, counting it as one of the greatest novels ever made. Aldous Huxley wrote a follow-up titledIslandin 1962. That means Peacock will have a lot of material to work with, should they decide to give the series a season 2 pickup. Some of the other originals that were produced for the service out of the gate includeThe Capture,Intelligence,Lost SpeedwaysandIn Deep with Ryan Lochte.Psych 2: Lassie Come Homewas also released at launch.

This is just one of dozens of virtual panels happening as part of this wildly different version of SDCC. Like many major events, the in-person version simply wasn’t possible this year. But they are trying to make the most of it and, different though it may be, we are still getting lots of pop culture news and insight for all to enjoy from the comfort of home. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on all of the otherComic-Con@Homehappenings throughout the weekend, so be sure to keep an eye out for our further coverage.Brave New Worldis streaming exclusively on Peacock now.
