It’s time to cook, as the complete series ofBreaking Badis selling on the PlayStation Store for just $9.99 for the time being. The sale is a part of Sony’s overall March sale, which includes several Sony Pictures movies and television shows for really low prices, but as this is aparticularlygreat deal, some people are theorizing it to be a pricing error. As the five-season series has a list price of $119.99, this means those who purchase the complete series during the Sony sale will be saving 91% off the original retail price. Oddly enough, the deal is only for the HD version of the series, as the lower-quality SD version is still listed at $119.99.
Created by Vince Gilligan,Breaking Badoriginally ran on AMC for five seasons between 2008 and 2013. It starredBryan Cranston as Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who turns to cooking methamphetamine to pay for his medical treatments following his devastating cancer diagnosis. Also starring alongside Cranston is Aaron Paul as fan favorite character Jesse Pinkman, a former student of “Mr. White” who assists him with the cooking and distribution of their patented “blue sky” meth. Because the chemistry between the two actors is incredible, their casting went a long way towards makingBreaking Badthe highly-entertaining show that it is.
Also starring on the show are Anna Gunn and R. J. Mitte as Walter’s wife and son, with Dean Norris and Betsy Brandt as his in-laws. Giancarlo Esposito also stars as theiconic villain Gus Fring, who serves as the primary antagonist for much of the series, with Jonathan Banks playing his right hand man Mike Ehrmantraut. The show is also notable for introducing Bob Odenkirk as conman lawyer Saul Goodman, a role which Odenkirk continues to play in the spin-off seriesBetter Call Saul. Along with the high quality writing,Breaking Badhas also received wide praise for the acting of every member of its cast, as each of them were certainly perfect in their respective roles.
TheBreaking Badfranchise continues to expand with new episodes ofBetter Call Saulpremiering on AMC every Monday night. As a prequel series,Better Call Saul includes many charactersfrom its parent series, including several who’ve been killed during theBreaking Badtimeline. This gives fans the opportunity to see more of several major characters they likely thought they’d never see again following their respective deaths onBreaking Bad. It’s also been very intriguing to see how Saul Goodman came to be in the years beforeBreaking Badstarts, and the spin-off is must-see television for any fan of the original show.
In any case, this just might be the chepeast deal we’ve seen yet for the entireBreaking Badseries, and if you’ve got aPlayStation 4, now may be the time to bite on adding it to your digital collection. Take it from me when I say the series never gets old, even after revisiting it multiple times, and it’s well worth ten dollars. Thanks toWario64 on Twitterfor pointing out this awesome deal!
