After the success ofMan of Steelin 2013, most fans expected Warner Bros. to announce a sequel at Comic Con that summer. Instead, the studio shocked the world by revealing thatBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicewould come next, which the studio is using to launch a massiveDC Comicsuniverse. Now thatBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicehas proved to be successful, fans are wondering if there’s any possibility forMan of Steel 2to go into development.IGNrecently spoke with starHenry Cavill, who teased that movie’s development may hinge on the success ofBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

“I do believe it depends on the success of this movie. If this goes well then we can start to negotiate with Warner Bros. for a standaloneSupermanmovie. But they’ve got their plans set out for other stuff andJustice Leaguesand various other movies, so it’s about finding the time, really. It’s something that I would be very keen to do.”

Productionon Justice League Part 1 is slated to begin on April 11 at Leavesden Studios in the U.K., with a November 17, 2017release datealready in place.Justice League Part 2is set for release on June 06, 2025, but we don’t know for sure when shooting will begin on that adventure. Still, there may be room on the schedule forMan of Steel 2, butZack Snyderrevealed they didn’t announceMan of Steel 2because they wanted to support the “event” that takes place inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

“I think if we can get a good script, it would be great to get a standalone Superman movie. I think that would be fun to do…Part of the reason we didn’t announce a standalone superhero movie is to support some of the event of [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice].”

ProducerCharles Rovenalso added that they’re in the “process of looking at” a new Superman movie, but nothing is official yet because they’re too busy working on the rest of theirDC Comicsslate. It’s worth noting there have also been plenty ofrumorsregarding anUntitled Batman Reboot, whichBen Affleckmay star in and direct from a script he’s co-writing withGeoff Johns. Do you think Warner Bros. should make room on their slate for a new Superman movie?
