In many ways,Captain America: Brave New Worldis the long-awaited sequel toThe Incredible Hulkthat MCU fans thought they would never get. From introducing Harrison Ford as Red Hulk (taking over for the late William Hurt) to finally following up on the Leader (Tim Blake Nelson),Brave New Worldfeels like a natural continuation of the 16-year-old film. However, the abundance of Hulk lore doesn’t stop there, as the newCaptain Americasequel also brings backa character that hasn’t been seen during that extended time period.

While on theOfficial Marvel Podcast, director Julius Onah addressed bringing backLiv Tyler as Betty RossinCaptain America: Brave New World. After making her MCU debut inThe Incredible Hulkas the love interest for Bruce Banner (previously played by Edward Norton), her presence has been entirely absent, despite Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross having a recurring role. Although Onah is careful not to spoil the details of her appearance inBrave New World, he confirms that the father-daughter relationship comes into play during theCaptain Americafilm.

Kelsey Grammar’s Beast in The Marvels

“It was sort of a no brainer to bring Liv back. She just has this real humanity to her. […] The relationship she ends up having with Thaddeus Ross in this film is a real big part of his journey of trying to cement his legacy and redefine who he has been as a human being and as a leader.”

As of right now, it’s unclear how significant Tyler’s role inBrave New Worldis, or how many scenes she will be appearing in. However, considering how jam-packed the film already is, it might be safe to say her appearance will likely come down to a handful of minutes of screentime, or even less. Fans first learned Betty Ross would be featured inBrave New Worldwhen Tyler waspreviously spotted on the set of the filma few years back. If those images were anything to go by, Betty might not be in the best of spirits when theCaptain Americasequel hits theaters next week.
