After building a TV empire withLaw & Orderand its numerous spinoffs, Dick Wolf is constructing a similar TV landscape with his NBC showsChicago Fire, Chicago P.D., the new seriesChicago Medand another upcomingspinoff,Chicago Justice.Deadlinereports that the executive producer announced at PaleyFest today thatCarl Weathershas signed on to star inChicago Justice. The actor joinsPhilip Winchester,Nazneen ContractorandJoelle Carterin the series.

The spinoff will first be introduced in the 21st episode ofChicago P.D. Season 3, entitledJustice, which doesn’t have an exact air date.Carl Weathersis playing State’s Attorney Mark Jefferies, described as “a respected, grounded intellectual with admirable gravitas.” No details have been given forPhilip Winchester,Nazneen ContractorandJoelle Carter’scharactersquite yet.

The Chicago P.D. episode, which will serve as a backdoorpilotforChicago Justice, will be directed by Jean de Segonzac, who has a long history with executive producer Dick Wolf. He directed the pilot episodes forLaw & OrderspinoffsLaw & Order: Special Victims UnitandLaw & Order: Criminal Intent, while also directing multipleepisodesof the originalLaw & OrderandChicago Fire.

No story details have been released forChicago Justice, but it will most certainly connect toChicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and the new seriesChicago Med.
