While many production companies are trying to figure out how to bring in big bucks with new ideas, an easy way to bring in money has been to re-release classics in theaters.Although they can’t market these productions as new, a great way to get people to visit the theaters to re-watch something they saw years ago is to highlight the anniversary of its release. The latest classic film to get its second dose of theater time is the 1995 ghost comedyCasper. The film, which starredChristina Ricciand served as Brad Silberling’s feature film directorial debut, will be available to watch once again on the big screen during the Halloween season.

According to Bleeding Cool, the month of October is known for ghosts and everything spooky, and now it’ll be Casper’s month too, as the movie celebrates its 30th anniversary. Although the film debuted in May 1995, there’s nothing quite like having one of themost famous ghostsaround during the fall. From October 3rd to October 31st, Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment are giving moviegoers the treat of nostalgia. Advanced tickets are currently on sale, so if this was a childhood favorite or if every time you watch the film, you’re taken back to a much simpler time, this is your time to shine.

How Casper the Friendly Ghost Defeated the Ghostbusters

The Ghostbusters saved NYC (and the world) numerous times from paranormal entities. But they admitted defeat when it came to Casper’s uncles.

Ghost movies have been around for decades, some so scary that you shouldn’t watch them alone. Others become sad when you learn the background of the ghost.Casperfollows a ghost (the title character) who peacefully haunts a mansion called Whipstaff Manor in Friendship, Maine. He befriends Kat Harvey (Ricci), a teenage girl and the daughter of Dr. James Harvey (Bill Pullman), a paranormal therapist hired by Catherine Carrigan (Cathy Moriarty) to move into Whipstaff to get rid of Casper and the Ghostly Trio. Carrigan is a greedy woman upset that her wealthy, late father only left her the mansion and gave his riches to charities.

Christina Ricci Once Said She Was “Embarrassed” By Her ‘Casper’ Performance

Sometimes, when you look back at things you’ve done in the past, you get the ick. It’s not because you hate yourself or anything significant; you simply think you could’ve done better. That’s why life is all about growing and learning. Although stars are put on a pedestal, they critique themselves just like everyone else. While those who sawCaspermight think Christina Ricci did a great job in her starring role, she told E News thatshe’s embarrassed by her performance.

There was a lot going on. I was 13. Everything was very difficult, and I was just always annoyed. Embarrassingly…I don’t think I tried as hard as maybe I should have. I remember just thinking like, ‘Wow, that was not a good, no, not a believable line reading at all.’ No commitment. Not a lot of commitment.
