Marvel kicked off the summer movie season last month with their epic sequelCaptain America: Civil War, which has gone on to become the highest-grossing movie so far this year. The blockbuster has taken in over $400 million domestically and $1.1 billion worldwide. Yesterday, concept artistAndy Parkrevealed early designs ofScarlet Witchand Hawkeye, but today we have a new glimpse atAnt-Man’s early costume design.
Andy Parkactually designed the original costume for last summer’sAnt-Man, so naturally he was the perfect choice to re-design a new look forCaptain America: Civil War. In just five years, he’s become a go-to artist for Marvel, having worked onCaptain America: The First Avenger,The Avengers,Iron Man 3,Thor: The Dark World,Captain America: The Winter Soldier,Guardians of the Galaxy,Avengers: Age of UltronandAnt-Man, along with the TV showsAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.andDaredevil. It remains to be seen if he will be working on any of Marvel’s other upcoming movies, such as the highly-anticipatedAvengers: Infinity Warmovies.
SinceAndy Parkdesigned the newAnt-Mansuit it’s possible he also designed the massiveGiant Mancostume as well. Since the artist has been in such a sharing mood lately, hopefully we’ll get to see early renditions of the Giant Man designs. Giant Man was considered by many fans to be one of the highlights ofCaptain America: Civil War, with most hoping he’ll transform into this massive superhero once again inAnt-Man and the Wasp, hitting theaters in the summer of 2018.
Marvel’sCaptain America: Civil WarfindsSteve Rogersleading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps-one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
It’s possible thatAnt-Manand possibly even The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) from the upcoming sequelAnt-Man and the Waspcould also return for both theInfinity Warmovies. Production is scheduled to begin this November on both movies, which will shoot back to back. While we wait for more on these new movies, check out theCaptain America: Civil Warconcept art forAnt-Man’s costume below.
