Cobra KaistarRalph Macchiohas teased the arrival of the Karate Kid Cinematic Universe. Speaking withComicbook.com, Macchio offered his own suggestions for which stories could be told alongsideCobra Kai, including a Mr. Miyagi origin and spinoffs centered on the new cast members, before asserting his confidence in theCobra Kaicreators and their vision for the future of the franchise.

“The thing that’s been created, there’s kind of this Karate Kid Cinematic Universe now where Cobra Kai is, you know, at the center of that and when that day does come in for a landing, there are other areas to draw from. I mean, whether it’s … Is there a Miyagi origin story? Is there a Cobra Kai prequel before The Karate Kid? Is there spin-offs with some of the young cast of these characters? Who knows? But we’re not done as long as we’re given the opportunity to really bring it in. As long as it evolves organically, these guys that write the show really have their finger on the pulse of that.”

After teasing the Karate Kid Cinematic Universe (KKCU?), Macchio declared his hopes for the main series to go beyond the upcoming fifth season, revealing that there are often ideas that are carried over due to the stories already being so jam-packed.

“There’s stuff that they wrote in Season 3 that didn’t happen until Season 4 ‘cause there wasn’t any more room in Season 3. There’s stuff that was in Season 5 that we know we shot that is being held for the future if we get that green light, so there’s more to come, we hope.”

TheCobra KaiCreators Are Now Considering Spinoffs

While we do not currently have any details regardingCobra Kaispinoffs, series creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald have been thinking about it.“The show itself is, in some ways, a spin-off,”they said last year. “We’re taking Johnny’s life and his POV. It’s one of those things where we think about it all the time, in some ways. With every character, you think of what their backstory is. When Jon says we don’t know how many more seasons are left of the show, part of it is that we think every character has a lot of story to tell. Is that something that would be a part of the Cobra Kai story, or is it something where somebody deserves their own story? These are all things that we talk about. We love this universe and love the idea of playing with it. Everything is possible.”

Until then,Cobra KaiSeason 5 is almost upon us. Following the shocking results of the All-Valley Tournament,Sensei Terry Silver is expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help.
