The Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, New York has resurrected the infamousDanny DeVitoshrine. The shrine was originally placed in a mysterious secret room connected to the men’s restroom on the campus of SUNY Purchase. Students figured out that the large paper towel dispenser could be removed and that it led to an unfinished room, which is where the original DeVito shrine was discovered. Once video and pictures hit the web, it quickly went viral and even had the man himself recognize the tribute.
TheAlamo Drafthousedecided to bring back the Danny DeVito shrine for a special screening ofThrow Mama from the Trainearlier this week and people have been leaving offerings. A sign in front of the shrine reads: “Leave An Offering for Our Lord and Savior Danny DeVito, Patron Saint of Trash Men,” which is the same message that was attached to the SUNY campus shrine. People have been piling up garbage and other items, such as condoms, torn up MoviePass cards, and a bunch of other goodies.
The Alamo Drafthouse’sDanny DeVito shrineis only temporary for the time being, but there have already been discussions to keep it up full time, which sounds like the right thing to do. According to one person who works at the theater, “Danny DeVito is god” and he’s going to be around to help the entertainment industry when he returns to “save all the true film believers” from the clutches of Disney. All joking aside, the theater is really considering leaving the shrine up all of the time. But for now, it will only be up until this Sunday.
Unfortunately, once the original Danny DeVito shrine went viral, SUNY Purchase College had to seal the room because of safety concerns. Students are no longer able to get to the shrine and it is unknown if the campus left it for future generations to find. One would like to believe that it is still up andspreading good trashman vibesto the campus restroom. Thankfully, there were a bunch of pictures and videos taken before campus authorities had the secret room sealed off for good.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphiais still running strong with Danny DeVito continuing to grow his cult, which he does not take for granted. When the actor discovered the original shrine, he posted on social media that he was “honored” and that his heart was “filled with garbage” over the nice gesture. However, he also took a moment to talk about cleaning the planet and recycling, using his celebrity god-like power for good. There’s still plenty of time to get to the Danny DeVito shrine if you’re in the Yonkers area, so get over there and take some pictures with it before its cleaned up. We’ll find out soon if the theater decides to keep it going. Thanks toMetaflixfor reporting the important information.
