After the successful execution ofZack Snyder’sJustice League and the film’s positive reception, fans hoped that Zack Snyder would again be reinstated as the franchise visionary. With the hope of fulfilling his vision, fans started a new campaign request to #restorethesnyderverse. However, it seems like there is no way that this could happen.

AtSan Diego Comic-Con 2022, Jim Lee, Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics, revealed that the studio is currently working on other DCEU properties in the making, and the Snyderverse continuity has no additional work on as a follow-up.

It’s Morbin Time is the same as #releasethesnydercut and we will unfortunately get a sequel

As posted by Twitter user @EarthOneCarlos (viaThe Direct), Jim Lee, conducting a Spotlight Panel, answered a fan query concerning the Snyder Cut. Lee firstly addressed the idea of being back to panel discussions after the pandemic.

You know what’s amazing? Is that we spent two years in lockdown and here we are back at a convention, celebrating the art form; feeling good.

Lee further addressed that since he is actively involved in projects that are in development, he knows that there isn’t any progress on the story that ended withZack Snyder’s Justice League. He further addressed the Snyder Cut as a satisfying story that realized Zack’s vision.

I work on the projects in development, so I think [Zack Snyder’s Justice League] was Zack’s vision realized, and it was a really satisfying story told, but there’s no plan for additional work on that material.

Lee added that he is currently happy to work on the other projects in work and that he was glad that Zack Snyder’s Justice League got completed, which was also one of the projects he has loved working on.

So, I was happy to help contribute to the pitch for the other stuff, and it was kind of fun to actually see that stuff get out there cause I did that stuff years ago… I actually thought it had been erased, but they kept it in storage.

It’s High Time to Lay Snyderverse to Rest

DC Extended Universe has been subjected to a controversial and complicated production. Since the negative critical reception toBatman v. Superman: Dawn of Justiceforced the studio to change its course, the franchise has been highly unstable. After Warner Bros. revised version ofJustice League, as reshot by Joss Whedon, bombed at the box office, the studio decided toend Snyder’s vision of the franchise. But after the film’s cast joined fans to support Snyder in his quest to complete his movie, and seeing it as an opportunity to boost subscription sales for HBO Max,Warner Bros. agreed to produce the Snyder Cut, which was released on the streaming service in March 2021.

But since then, Snyder has been actively busy with his commitments to Netflix. Besides his newArmy of the Deadfranchise, Snyder is working on his space adventure,Rebel Moon, for the HBO Max competitor. Furthermore, Snyder has stated thatit’s not his call to get Snyderverse greenlitand that hehas not been in contact with Warner Bros.since the Snyder Cut release.

On the other hand, Warner Bros. is probably focused onThe Flash, perhaps an attempt at revitalizing DCEU. However, Ben Affleck’s involvement with the project has kept hopes high among fans that Snyder’s story will somehow take shape in the future. But, as both Warner Bros. and Snyder are heading in different directions, it’s better to lay down that vision to rest.
