It isn’t known if production will still begin in early 2017, as previously rumored, or when the movie may be released, but those announcements may be coming soon now that a director is on board.

During the post-credit scene ofDeadpool, the Merc With the Mouth reveals that Cable, the iconic X-Force leader from the Marvel Comics, will be featured inDeadpool 2.Tim Millerreportedly wanted to castBloodlinestarKyle Chandleras Cable, whichRyan Reynoldsdisagreed with.Ryan Reynoldswanted the character to be closer in age than he was in the comics, and the actor thought thatKyle Chandlerwas too young to pull off the Cable role. While Cable has not been cast yet, there was talk that the sequel was getting close to casting another key role beforeTim Millerleft.

In the Marvel Comics, Domino is also part of the X-Force team lead by Cable, and 20th Century Fox is also developing anX-Forcemovie, but we haven’t heard much about that project in quite some time, which hasJeff Wadlowattached to write the script and possibly direct. It has been previously reported thatDeadpool 3is already being planned and will prominently feature X-Force.
