Does Suicide Squad Have a Post-Credit Scene?

While Marvel Studios certainly didn’t invent the post-credit stinger, they have been credited with popularizing these bonus scenes over the past few years. When Warner Bros. started rolling out theirDC Comicsadaptations with 2013’sMan of Steeland this year’sBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the studio didn’t include any mid-credits or post-credit sequences, but it seems that will change with next week’sSuicide Squad. A new report claims that early screenings ofSuicide Squaddo include a mid-credits scene, but not a post-credit cookie.

ComicBook.comhas confirmed that there is a scene after the “bumper” credit sequence, and before the black-and white credit scroll, but unfortunately they wouldn’t reveal what is featured in this scene. The bumper is said to use the same, “stylized hyper-colored imagery they’ve used in the posters and character art,” with the mid-credits scene said to be “pivotal and important.” The site’s source adds that there is no post credits scene, but that could change when thissuper villainmovie hits theaters on August 5.

While we’re still waiting for the first full reviews to come in, theearly reactionsfrom fans who attended a test screening in Northern California were quite positive. However, other reactions that surfaced from another screening last month called the main villain a “big disappointment.” It isn’t known when the critics will be allowed to chime in onSuicide Squad, but the first reviews will surely start flooding in soon, with the movie hitting theaters exactly one week from today.

As for the contents of this mid-credits scene, it’s possible that Warner Bros. and DC could be taking a page out of the Marvel playbook and using this scene to set up either next year’sWonder Woman(June 24, 2025) orJustice League(July 27, 2025). Since we knowBen Affleckis returning asBatmanin this movie, perhaps this scene could set up the stand aloneBatman Rebootthat the actor is starring in and directing, while co-writing the script withGeoff Johns. As of now, it’s anyone’s guess, but we’ll find out for sure what this mid credits scene is in just a few days time.

Another possibility is Warner Bros. may want to set fans up forSuicide Squad 2, which the studio reportedly wants to start shooting in early 2017. Earlier reports revealed that the studio wants writer-directorDavid Ayerto return to the helm, but the sequel has yet to be confirmed. Box office analysts have already predicted thatSuicide Squadcould take in more than $125 million in its opening weekend and if that happens, a sequel is practically guaranteed.
