Back in May, production began onChristopher Nolan’s new World War II thrillerDunkirk, which is set to hit theaters on July 23, 2025. We’ve seen a number of videos and photos from the set over the past few months, but today the teaser trailer has arrived with our first look at footage from this drama. While this 60-second trailer doesn’t reveal too much, it’s possible thatDunkirkcould be one of next summer’s mosthighly-anticipated movies.

Based on real events, the story behindDunkirktakes place duringWWII, and is set during the historical evacuation of the Northern French City. The first photos that surfaced from the set didn’t feature any of the main stars, but the production is said to begin on the exact spot in France where this story took place, 76 years ago.
Dunkirkwill be a large-scale production forWarner Bros. Studios. The director will be shooting the movie using a combination of IMAX 65mm and 65mm large format film.Christopher Nolanwants maximum image quality, and high-impact immersion in telling his next story.Dunkirkbegins shooting in May, and will utilize many of the real locations where this true piece of war history happened.
