Hollywood superstarDwayne Johnsonhas big plans forBlack Adam, calling his imminent DC debut Phase 1 of the DC Cinematic Universe. Responding to a review ofBlack Adamonsocial media, Johnson teased his intentions for the antihero, calling the long-awaited arrival of Black Adam “Exciting times for the brand to build up and build out.”
Black Adamwill finally introduce audiences to the titular antihero. After nearly five thousand years of imprisonment, Black Adam, an antihero from the ancient city of Kahndaq, is unleashed into modern times. While the movie will act as an origin for Johnson’s character, it will also work to introduce further as-yet-unseen DC heroes, thus building up and building out. Black Adam’s brute tactics and way of justice attract the attention of the Justice Society of America, who attempt to stop his rampage, teach him how to be a hero more than a villain, and must team up to stop a force more powerful than Adam himself.
The idea ofBlack Adambeing the first phase in the DC universe is sure to fall badly on the ears of some fans, many of whom are still hoping that theSnyder-Versewill be restored. Unfortunately for them, it doesn’t sound like that will be happening anytime soon.

Dwayne Johnson Has Big Plans for Black Adam & the DC Universe
Whatever you may think of Johnson’s plans for theDC Cinematic Universe, much like Black Adam himself, it’s going to be hard to stop him.
“I am 100% committed to not only Black Adam but then expanding the Black Adam universe, the DC universe,”Johnson said earlier this year, teasing his plans forBlack Adamand his place in the DC universe. “I hear the fans, we all do, and I pick up everything they’re putting down. It doesn’t get by me, it doesn’t get by these guys [producer Hiram Garcia, producer Beau Flynn, director Jaume Collet-Serra]. This is the beginning, hopefully, fingers crossed, of a very long storytelling road that Black Adam is the anchoring jet fuel now that will then push and press this universe out.”
He continued adding, “Introducing the JSA, introducing that new era of the DC universe. But also what I really meant by, ‘This is a new era in the DC Universe,’ is listening to the fans. Listening to the fans. And doing our best to give the fans what they want. And maybe, sometime down the road — and I went through this in pro wrestling — is you may’t always give them what you want. But you’ll always know that we’re listening. And in this case, with what you and I are talking about, I have been listening and I’ve been wanting to address fans for years. Because I’ve been waiting for someone to step up and address the fans and say, ‘Hey, we hear you.’ So finally, after many months turned into many years, we ended up with what we ended up at. And the whole goal and intention now is to this new era, new time. Now let’s build out."
Based on what has been revealed regarding the post-credits scene at the end ofBlack Adam, it sounds like Johnson’s plan has already started.Black Adamis scheduled to be released in the United States on Aug 14, 2025, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
