Action star Chris Hemsworth will soon return as the black ops mercenary Tyler Rake in the highly anticipated Netflix sequel,Extraction 2. But, while battling endless bad guys, filming one-take action sequences, and evenbeing set on firelooks grueling for Hemsworth, the Marvel actor is more than ready to return forExtraction 3.
“I love it. I love playing the character. I love this world. I love having something else outside of Marvel that’s amassed a bit of a following, something more in the real world. I honestly feel like we made a better film than the first one. That’s rare in the franchise world. We’d be remiss not to have a crack at another one.”
Speaking withTotal Film, Hemsworth declared that he is eager to come back for more and carry out what’s sure to be another action-packed extraction. Hyping up the sequel, which he calls better than the record-breaking first outing, Hemsworth certainly sounds excited to be leading another franchise outside of the MCU. Hemsworth is not the only one withExtraction 3in his cross hairs. Former stuntman-turned-director Sam Hargrave is equally excited to bring Tyler Rake back for further adventures. And already has an idea for how to do it…
“There is so much room for this franchise to expand and places where it can go. I’m excited about what that next adventure for Tyler Rake could be. We’ll see how this one does. We’ll see how people feel and respond. And if the world is craving another Tyler Rake adventure, I think it’d be something I’d be interested in seeing put up on screen.’ He grins. ‘I have an idea, but I won’t give it away here…”

Extraction 2 Is Due to Land on Netflix Next Month
Released back in 2020, the firstExtractionintroducesThor: Love and Thunderstar Chris Hemsworth as former SASR operator turned black ops mercenary, Tyler Rake, a man with nothing to lose who is given a chance at redemption when he is hired to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord. Much like its central hero,Extractionproved to be pretty unstoppable itself, quickly becoming a major hit for Netflix and fighting its way to the top of the viewership ranks asthe most-watched original filmin Netflix history (at the time).
Based on the graphic novel ‘Ciudad’ by Ande Parks,Extraction 2picks up with Hemsworth’s unstoppable action hero Tyler Rake after being presumed dead in the first movie. The sequel sees Rake return to what he does best – taking on seemingly impossible missions to rescue someone – and is tasked this time around with another deadly mission:saving the battered familyof a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.
Extraction 2finds Hemsworth reuniting with director Sam Hargrave.Avengers: Endgamedirectors Joe and Anthony Russo’s AGBO will produce the project, with Joe Russo having once again penned the script. The cast includes Golshifteh Farahani, who reprises her role from the firstExtraction, with the likes of Adam Bessa, Olga Kurylenko, Tinatin Dalakishvili, Andro Jafaridze, Daniel Bernhardt, Tornike Gogrichiani, Levan Saginashvili, and George Lasha also set to feature alongside Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake.
Extraction 2is scheduled to be released by Netflix on July 04, 2025.
