Last year, just beforeFurious 7hit theaters, Oscar-winning actressHelen Mirrenrevealed that it was her “great ambition” to star in aFast & Furiousmovie as a “mad driver.” The actress added in that interview that she kept “putting it out there” that she wants to be a part of the franchise, but the filmmakers never responded. It seems her persistence has paid off, with the actress confirming that she will in fact star inFast and Furious 8.
While promoting her new movieEye in the Sky, which recently arrived on Blu-ray and DVD, the actress confirmed that she’s “about to do"Fast & Furious 8in an interview withElle. Unfortunately, she wouldn’t shed too much light on her character, but the actress did add that she’d only be a part of the sequel under one condition. Here’s what she had to say below.
“Well, yes. I’ve always rather loved driving. I said, ‘I’ll be in it, but only if I’m allowed to drive if I do drive in it.’ But we’ll see. We’ll see how it transpires. Film is a wonderful thing and it can be so many different things. I don’t want to turn my back on any of the different ways movies can be. I love the movies. I love going to the films. I like very serious films, I love foreign films, and I love big, fun movies-as long as they’re well made and they’ve got good scripts. That’s the most important thing.”
Last year, afterHelen Mirren’s remarks about the franchise,Vin Dieselhimself teased that “she’s on the list,” adding, “Be careful what you wish for,Helen.“Productionhas been under way since last month, although it isn’t known how long principal photography is expected to last. We’ll have to wait and see if more details about who she’s playing will surface as filming continues.
