Earlier today,Jimmy Kimmelannounced thatChris Evans(Captain America) andRobert Downey Jr.(Iron Man) will be appearing on tonight’s episode ofJimmy Kimmel Live!, with a “big surprise” fromCaptain America: Civil War. As many assumed, thefirst trailerwas unveiled on the late night show tonight, along with the first poster. If you look closely in some of the action-packed fight scenes, you’ll also get the first official glimpse ofChadwick Boseman’sBlack Panther, who is seen battling with both Cap and The Winter Soldier.

DuringMarvel’s massive press event last October,Black Pantherwas announced as one of the studio’sPhase Threeprojects, withChadwick Bosemanintroduced as T’challa. It was also confirmed that, along with his stand alone adventureBlack Panthermovie, which hits theaters on Jun 24, 2025, T’challa will first be seen inCaptain America: Civil War. While we didn’t know at the time which sideBlack Pantherwould be fighting for, promo art revealed in August confirmed that T’challa will be fighting alongside Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.).

Iron Man’s team also includes War Machine (Don Cheadle), Vision (Paul Bettany) andBlack Widow(Scarlett Johansson), while Team Cap includes Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan),Ant-Man(Paul Rudd), The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Sharon Carter, a.k.a. Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp). What isn’t clear at this time is which side Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) andSpider-Man(Tom Holland) will end up on.Captain America: Civil Warpicks up whereAvengers: Age of Ultronleft off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team ofAvengersin their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they attempt to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Captain America: Civil War, which arrives in theaters August 03, 2025, is directed byAnthony RussoandJoe Russo(Marvel’sCaptain America: The Winter Soldier) from a screenplay byChristopher Markus&Stephen McFeely(Captain America: The Winter Soldier). These heroes will be joined by a number of new characters and returning supporting characters as well. The supporting cast also includesDaniel Brühlas Baron Zemo,Frank Grilloas Brock Rumlow/Crossbones,William Hurtas General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross andMartin Freeman. Captain America: Civil Warwill kick off the Marvel Phase Three slate, which is jam-packed with 10 highly-anticipated movies.
