Throughout the first season ofSupergirlon CBS, fans heard plenty about Kara Zor-El’s famous cousinSuperman, although we would only get glimpses of him from afar. Back in May, shortly after the hit series shifted from CBS to The CW, it was confirmed that Superman will have a much bigger role in Season 2, and last month,Tyler Hoechlinwas cast as the Man of Steel. Today, fans finally have their first look atTyler Hoechlinin costume as Superman, alongsideMelissa BenoistasSupergirl.

Fans who attended theSupergirlpanel at Comic-Con last week got to seeTyler Hoechlinin action, although they didn’t get to see him in full costume.DC Comicsunveiled this first look photo earlier today, revealing that this version of the Superman costume was designed by Supergirl costume designerKiersten Ronning. It was also confirmed that Superman will first surface during theSeason 2 premiere, which airs Monday, October 10 at 8 PM ET on The CW.

Superman Supergirl Season 2

When the actor was first cast, it was revealed thatTyler Hoechlinwill debut with a two-episode arc at the beginning of the season, but it isn’t known if he will continue to visit his cousin in National City throughout Season 2. There has also been talk of a crossover with the network’s other superhero shows,Arrow,The FlashandLegends of Tomorrow. We don’t know for sure yet if the Man of Steel will be present in this crossover, or when it may happen on The CW.

Season 2 ofSupergirlwill also feature the originalWonder Womanherself,Lynda Carter, who will play the President of the United States, withFloriana Limarecently signing on to play Maggie Sawyer, who was one of the first openly gay comic book characters when she debuted in 1987. Another rumor surfaced last week that revealed two more DC Comics characters, Kathy Kane, a.k.a.Batwoman, who will be Maggie Sawyer’s ex-girlfriend on the show, and Barbara Gordon, a.k.a. The Oracle. The show hasn’t cast Batwoman or The Oracle quite yet, but hopefully we’ll have more updates soon.

Supergirlwill now anchor the network’s superhero lineup which will span four nights.Supergirlis set to retain its Monday 8 PM timeslot on The CW, withThe Flashfollowing on Tuesdays at 8 PM,Arrowon Wednesdays at 8 PM andLegends of Tomorrowon Thursdays at 8 PM.
