Furiosa: A Mad Max Sagahas delivered a stunning new poster for the upcoming prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road. Having unleashed the first trailer a couple of weeks ago, the newest addition to the Mad Max franchise is gearing up to be every bit as epic as its predecessor. A new poster is now bringing the metal to Furiosa.

Marvel starChris Hemsworthwill cut a very different figure than the heroic Thor (though seemingly still wearing a red cape) in the upcomingMad Maxprequel, and the actor has teased how different filming this action movie was to others in his cinematic past. Appearing at the recent CCXP event (viaomeleteve), Hemsworth heaped praise on Academy Award-winning director George Miller for his complete and complex vision.

“When you do an action film, a lot of the time you’re trying different things, you’re experimenting, and you’re trying to make the sequence as impressive and as big as possible. And you have backups and other options, and that can be exhausting. What was refreshing working with George is that every frame was thought out. Every single frame was necessary; it was servicing the whole.”

According toChris Hemsworth, Miller has every single piece of his film already thought-out, meaning that everything an audience sees is “essential” to both the character and the narrative. As Hemsworth explains it…

“It was part of a grander plan and a message, and so there was no waste. Everything you see is essential, and means something, and supports the characters' journey, the narrative, the overall arc of the film, and it was exhausting in the best way. All of us showed up and were willing to commit and throw ourselves on the line to service this journey and this film and this franchise that has existed for forty-something years now.”

Audiences have already been treated to what Miller’s filmmaking can achieve in the past, of course, with the likes of 2015’sMad Max: Fury Roadgoing to become one ofthe greatest action movies of all timeand being Oscar nominated for its direction, its cinematography, its sound editing, and everything else in between.

Furiosa

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

A prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, Furiosa is an action-adventure film that tells the origin story of the headstrong and fearless Furiosa. Set shortly after the beginning of the “end of the world,” Furiosa is kidnapped and brought before a powerful warlord, now forced to work for him. To find her way back home, Furiosa will adapt to the new harsh and arid world as she grows into the Furiosa she becomes known to be.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Sagapicks up some 15 years before the events ofMad Max: Fury Road, and centers on the titular Furiosa (previously played by Charlize Theron and now by Anya Taylor-Joy in the prequel) as she fights to survive.

Mad Max

“As the world falls, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and into the hands of a Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. While two Tyrants war for dominance over the Citadel, Furiosa survives many trials as she plots a way back home through the Wasteland.”

Hemsworth stars as the villain of the piece, Dementus, who introduces Furiosa to this world of violence and savagery. The actor recently offered some insight into the character, and itsounds like a serious change of pacefor the man best associated with the MCU’s Thor.

“There’s an intensity and brutality to him but he is birthed into a space where it’s kill or be killed and has learned to rule.”

Directed by George Miller, who co-wrote the film alongside Nico Lathouris,Furiosa: A Mad Max Sagastars Anya Taylor-Joy as Imperator Furiosa alongside Chris Hemsworth (Thor: Love and Thunder, Extraction), Tom Burke (The Wonder, The Lazarus Project), Nathan Jones (Mad Max: Fury Road), Angus Sampson (The Lincoln Lawyer, Mad Max: Fury Road), Daniel Webber (11.22.63, Escape from Pretoria), and Lachy Hulme (Three Thousand Years of Longing).
