Ever since theGame of Thrones Season 5finale,Mother’s Mercy, aired in June, fans have had one big burning question on their minds: isJon Snow(Kit Harington) alive or dead? This question has been teased several times in the months that followed, with HBO even putting Jon Snow’s bloody face on a poster for the highly-anticipatedSeason 6, which the network recently announced will premiere on Sunday, April 24. Series starMaisie Williamsrecently appeared on the red carpet of theCritics' Choice Awards, where she teased a “twist” regarding Jon Snow in an interview withThe Upcoming. Here’s what she had to say below, regarding this belovedGame of Thronescharacter.

“It was awful, it was really awful. Everyone was so sad about it, and I feel so mean because I speak to people and they’re all like, ‘Jon Snow, is he back?’, and it’s really heartbreaking because people are like, ‘Yeah, but he’s coming back though?’ There’s a great twist, but I can’t say that he’s going to be alive.”

What’s interesting is that she confirms that Jon Snow is not going to be alive, but we know that, in some way, shape or form,Kit Harington’s character will be back inGame of Thrones Season 6. The actor himself teased in September that he’s still under contract with the series, which confirmed a report from October 2014 that all of the major stars had renewed their contracts throughSeason 7. The actor was also spotted arriving at the Belfast airport in July, and he was spotted on the Ireland set shortly thereafter.

Still, what could this “twist” be? Many have speculated that Jon Snow will be brought back to life by Melissandre (Carice van Houten), who could also bring her “partner"Stannis Baratheon(Stephen Dillane) back to life after Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) killed him inMother’s Mercy. Very little is known about Game of Thrones Season 6 yet, but we do know one thing for sure:George R.R. Martin’s new book The Winds of Winter won’t be published until after this season debuts. The author and his publishers haven’t announced an exact date of publication yet, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Fans will be introduced to several new characters this season, includingMax von Sydowas the Three-Eyed Raven,Ian McShanein an unspecified role andPilou Asbæk, who has been rumored to be playing Euron Greyjoy, the uncle of Alfie Allen’s Theon Greyjoy.Richard E. GrantandEssie Davisare portraying members of a theater troupe who are putting on a play about famous figures in Westeros, withJames Faulkner, Samantha Spiro and Rebecca Benson portraying the father, mother and sister of Samwell Tarly (John Bradley).
