DirectorJames Gunnis always providing updates on his projects for the fans on hisFacebookandTwitterpages. The director revealed back in April thatprincipal photographyon his highly-anticipated follow-upGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2won’t begin until February 2016, but yesterday on hisFacebookpage, the director shared a photo of himself,Vin DieselandJames Wanfrom his going-away party, before he leaves for Atlanta to prep forGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Here’s what the filmmaker had to say below.

“Two Directors One Diesel, withVin DieselandJames Wanat my going away party last night before I leave for Atlanta for ten months to shoot GotG Vol 2. One of the best times I’ve had in a while, with so many great friends. Thanks to all who came! - withVin DieselandJames Wan.”

The filmmaker also revealed in the comments section of hisFacebookpost that he will try to have some footage of the sequel ready to show fans at next year’s Comic-Con, but he couldn’t guarantee that will happen for sure. The director said that he and the crew will all be moving to Atlanta to build massive sets that will be constructed. Unfortunately, he wouldn’t give any specific story details this time around, but hopefully we’ll know more once shooting gets under way, and hopefully we’ll learn more details once production begings.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2director James Gunn also revealed that there won’t be too many new characters in thissuperhero sequel, and that he wants the Guardians to get more personal in the follow-up. He also added that it’s important to him that Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) is the only human from Earth in this world, while reiterating thatCaptain Marvelwon’t be a part of his sequel either.Vin Dieselrecently confirmed he will be back to voiceGroot, with the rest of the Guardians,Zoe Saldana’s Gamora,Dave Bautista’s Drax the Destroyer andBradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon expected to come back as well.

James Gunn also recently revealed during an impromptu Q&A session that there will be 12 new songs featured in the sequel’s soundtrack, and that they are currently obtaining the rights.Guardians of the GalaxycomposerTyler Batesis also returning to score the sequel, while the director added he would love to use characters such as Rom Spaceknight, Popeye, Snake Plissken and Bat-Mite in the sequel, but the studio does not have the rights.
