Pierce Brosnan can add being a gentleman and a scholar to his list of glowing accomplishments, at least according toHalle Berry. The actress co-starred with Brosnan in his fourth and final outing as James Bond in 2002’sDie Another Day, and the actress is heaping praise on the former 007, saying that he “restored” her faith in men.
During a video interview forWired, Berry gushed about herJames Bondco-star in the most positive way. Berry playedBond girlJinx in 2002’sDie Another Dayand while she says that"Bond wasn’t on my wish list,“Berry thoroughly enjoyed her experience on the film, thanks in large part to Brosnan himself.

“He will always be my Bond. I’m a Pierce Brosnan fan. He restored my faith in men on that movie. There couldn’t be a human who is more of a gentleman than Pierce Brosnan. Bond wasn’t on my wish list, no, not to be in one, but I loved the movies always. Having been in one, I feel like I’m a part of cinematic history. Those movies are iconic. They will forever be a part of our history, and I’m really honored to have been a part of one, especially with Pierce.”
Halle Berry Was Fresh Off Her Oscar Win When She Was Cast as a Bond Girl
Die Another Day
Berry was fresh off her Best Actress Oscar win forMonster’s Ballwhen the Bond franchise came calling. The actress co-starred as Giacinta “Jinx” Johnson, an NSA agent that Bond meets on his excursion to Havana, Cuba to hunt down Tang Ling Zao (Rick Yune), a terrorist working for Colonel Tan-Sun Moon (Will Yun Lee). Berry’s turn inDie Another Dayrepresented one of the few times that an African American woman had a substantial role in a Bond film, allowing the actress to follow in the footsteps of Grace Jones in 1985’sA View to Killand Gloria Hendry in 1973’sLive and Let Die.
Halle Berry Would Reprise One of Her Most Criticized Roles on One Condition
One Halle Berry role remembered for the wrong reasons is one that she is quite proud of.
Die Another Dayproved to be a box office success, grossing $160.9 million domestically and $431.9 million worldwide on a $142 million budget. The success of the film and Berry’s role in it was enough to make Bond producers look into giving the actress and Jinx her own spinoff movie, but the project fell apart when MGM didn’t want to spend $80 million on the production. Back in 2020, Berry believed this happened because the studio wasn’t confident in spearheading a tentpole with afemale lead of color.

“It was very disappointing. It was ahead of its time. Nobody was ready to sink that kind of money into a Black female action star. They just weren’t sure of its value. That’s where we were then.”
Given how much Berry loved working with Brosnan, perhaps a studio should get behind reuniting these two on the big screen. They have proven action chops and stellar chemistry, and Brosnan is likely a much more seasoned gentleman with age that Berry would love to perform with again.
