A remake of Neil Simon’sThe Odd CouplestarringJamie Lee CurtisandTiffany Haddishsounds pretty funny, and it’s exactly what the two women are pitching. The two star in Walt Disney Studios’Haunted Mansion, which premieres July 28, and they’re already making plans for their next collaboration. Ahead of the film’s premiere (and before the ongoing SAG-AFTRA stike), Haddish and Curtis sat down withEntertainment Tonight, where they revealed their plan to ensure that Curtis becomes an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) winner.
When Curtis is asked where she’d go on a girls trip with Haddish, she says she’d first “go to an AA meeting” to get “settled into” her sobriety, while Haddish says the two should go to Colombia. Curtis then jokingly reveals:

“Well, no, we’ve come up with a plan, by the way. So we’re gonna remake The Odd Couple on Broadway. So I can get an EGOT.”
Curtis clarifies that it’s other people mentioning “those initials” and that she’s unsure how she’d get a Tony, as she can’t sing. Haddish reassures her Haunted Mansion co-star:
“You just have to know how to act, and we got to get butts in the seat at the theater. I know how to do that.”
Sounds like the two are working out the kinks.
Neil Simon’sThe Odd Couplefollows two roommates: Felix Ungar, who is neat and uptight, and the more relaxed Oscar Madison, whose cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. In 1985, the playwright adapted the famous play to feature two female roommates and titled itThe Female Odd Couple. The original play was adapted for the screen twice: for a 1968 film starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, and a 1970 television series starring Tony Randall and Jack Klugman.

Jamie Lee Curtis Says Haunted Mansion ‘Has the Nostalgia’
Before Broadway, though, we’ll see Haddish and Curtis inHaunted Mansion. The horror-comedy follows the story of Gabbie (Rosario Dawson), a doctor, and her nine-year-old son (Chase Dillon) who purchase a stunning, but weirdly affordable, New Orleans mansion. The two quickly realize that they are not alone in their new abode. The two contact a local priest (Owen Wilson) to help with the paranormal activities. The priest, in turn, looks to the help of widowed scientist-turned failed-paranormal expert (LaKeith Stanfield), a French Quarter psychic (Haddish), and a historian (Danny DeVito). Curtis appears in the film as Madame Leota, the spirit of a psychic medium living in the Haunted Mansion. The films also stars Jared Leto, Hasan Minhaj, and Dan Levy, features an appearance by Winona Ryder, and is directed by Justin Simien (Dear White People).
The film is based on the popular Disney attraction that debuted in California’s Disneyland in 1969, and can now also be found at Orlando’s Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland. Talking about the film and the attraction, Curtis says:
“It’s funny, it’s spooky, it’s scary and it has the nostalgia. See, the great thing about Disney is I’m 65 years old, I remember the first time I went on that ride. Tiffany remembers [her] first time and the magic of going to Disneyland and being in that environment. There’s a beautiful nostalgia that I also think is a part of this.”
