As HBO gets ready to airSeason 5ofGirls, the cable network has also been discussing how to bring the critically-acclaimed series to a close.E! Onlinereports that HBO executives and the show’s producers agreed to renew the show for a sixth andfinal season.Girls Season 6would air sometime in 2017, but the show hasn’t issued an official announcement yet.

Girls Season 5is slated to debut Sunday, February 21 at 10 PM, kicking off a new 10-episode season. While no specifics were given for the final season, it isn’t a surprise that HBO is considering an early renewal, beforeSeason 5even airs. “Never say never, but that is the way that we’re thinking about it right now, and we’re starting to think about sort of how to wrap up the storylines of these particular young women. I started working on this show when I was 23, and now I’m going to be 30 so it kind of feels right that this show kind of sandwiched my 20s and then I go off into the world.”
