It’s been just over a month and a half sinceproduction startedonThor: Ragnarok, and since then, we’ve seen plenty of photos and video from the set at Village Roadshow Studios in Australia. There is still plenty we haven’t seen yet, including the new villain Hela, played by Oscar winnerCate Blanchett, but today we have new videos and photos from the set that give us our first glimpse at this villain. Unfortunately, these videos and photos were taken from quite a far distance, and they don’t give us the best look at Hela.

The video came from theTwitteraccount of 9 News Gold Coast, which has been covering the production. The video also shows a crew member holding some sort of a large sword, which may belong toSkurge(Karl Urban), but that hasn’t been confirmed. We aren’t entirely sure what will happen in this scene, but it clearly takes place on one of the ornate Asgard sets we’ve shown you in previous set photos and videos. It’s also worth noting that Hela isn’t wearing the ornate headdress as seen in theconcept art.

The news organization also posted another report where crew members are seen prepping the streets of Brisbane, so it’s possible that we may see some outdoor set photos in the near future. We also have two more videos featuringChris Hemsworthand unidentified stunt men and crew members who seem to be rehearsing some of the action scenes that will take place in Brisbane, with filming set to begin on Monday for those sequences. Hopefully we’ll get to see some of the action unfold in even more video and photos when these scenes start filming next week.

While no plot details have been confirmed, Loki has long been rumored to team up with the new villain, Hela (Cate Blanchett), who banishes Thor from Asgard and destroys his iconic hammer Mjolnir, according to reports. Thor reportedly ends up on a gladiator planet, where he is forced to face the planet’s current champion, Hulk. While no official plot details have been unveiled yet, Marvel did showcase thegladiator Hulkarmor at Comic-Con last month, essentially confirming this rumored story line. It is believed thatThor: Ragnarokwill take aspects from the iconic Planet Hulk comic book, which many fans have wanted to see turned into a movie.

Tom Hiddlestonwill be joined byChris Hemsworth(Thor),Idris Elba(Heimdall) andAnthony Hopkins(Odin), plusCate Blanchett’s Hela and even more new characters.Jeff Goldblumjoins the cast as the eccentric Grandmaster, alongsideTessa Thompson, who will bring the classic hero Valkyrie to life on the big screen, andKarl Urbanwho will add his might to the fray as Skurge. Marvel has set a June 11, 2025 release date forThor: Ragnarok, which currently doesn’t have any direct competition at the box office. Take a look at these new photos and videos from the set ofThor: Ragnarok, and stay tuned for more as production continues in Australia.
