Fans ofPrime Videoromance drama the “Culpables” saga will be delighted to know that the streamer has set a premiere date for the third, and final, movie in the Spanish adaptation of the novels by Mercedes Ron. For everyone else, it will be a date to find something else to watch, as the previous two movies in the franchise have been among the worst rated of the last two years.

Starting withCulpa Mia (My Fault)in 2023, the story focuses on the forbidden romance between step-siblings Noah and Nick, who are thrown together by chance, and are unable to resist each other. The movie received a dreaded 0% score from critics but a whopping 83% from audiences. The sequel,Culpa Tuya (Your Fault), was released last yearand received a slightly better 20% Tomatometer score, but a much worse 43% audience rating.

However, both movies were huge hits on Prime Video, sitting at number one for weeks and proving that even bad movies are very capable of drawing in an audience when they are based on massively popular online fiction. Now,Culpa Nuestrais set to hit Prime Video on October 16, cue the jokes about an early Halloween horror show for critics.

For those who think this may be a little harsh, it should be remembered that the original movie received comments such as those fromDecider’s John Serba, which read, “The characters are insipid and rudimentary, crudely carved from the granite of countless hoary cliches.”

Can ‘Culpa Nuestra’ Break a Curse?

With the same cast, same storyline, and same production team, it is unlikely thatCulpa Nuestrais going to bring on board anyone who has found nothing of merit in the first two movies. However, it could try to impress some of those who loved the first film but not the follow-up.

Culpa Nuestra, which follows the couple reuniting years after their break-up, has already broken a massive streaming record by becoming the most-viewed trailer for a Prime Video original, with over 163 million views in its first week. In short, no matter how good or bad the movie turns out to be, and whether it becomes another 0% RT dud or not, this October it will become the biggest thing on Prime Video.

One reason the “Culpables” movies remain popular, regardless of reviews, is thanks to the massive success of the novels on Wattpad.Culpa Nuestrawas downloaded more than 75 million times, making the fan base behind it as big as it possibly could be. It may not be Shakespeare to many, but just like other online sensations such as Fifty Shades of Grey, once they take hold, it is hard to put them down.

Of course, for those who want even more, the English-language remake,My Fault: London, was released earlier this year, and will likely be getting its own sequel release date sooner rather than later.
