Deadline reports that Annie Shapero (Red Skies) has been cast as Alysanne Blackwood inHouse of the DragonSeason 3. She will not be a series regular, but is expected to appear in five episodes of the upcoming season. The character plays a key role inFire & Blood, so fans of the book have been waiting for the casting for quite some time. Details remain scarce on the upcoming season, but Shapero will make her debut as Alysanne whenHouse of the Dragonreturns to HBOsometime in 2026.

Alysanne “Black Aly” Blackwood is an important character fromFire & Blood,and could become an instant fan-favorite after making her live-action debut inHouse of the Dragon. In the source material, she is Lord Benjicot Blackwood’s aunt, who ends up fighting for Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) during the Dance of the Dragons. She eventually marries Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor), who has already made his presence known in theGame of Thronesprequel. It’s unclear if the character will make a return in the fourth season, which is slated to be the last for the popular fantasy drama.

Of course, with Season 4 on the way, don’t expect the HBO drama to wrap up the storyline anytime soon. That said, there is a good chance that Season 3 will be the most satisfying and thrilling installment of the franchise.

The popular HBO spinoff show first starred Milly Alcock and Emily Carey as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower before they were replaced by Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke, who play the older versions of the characters. Also starring in the series is Matt Smith (Prince Daemon Targaryen) and Paddy Considine as Rhaenyra’s father, King Viserys Targaryen.
