TheI Know What You Did Last Summerlegacy sequel is highly anticipated among fans for a few reasons, not the least of which is the return of Jennifer Love Hewitt, who portrayed heroine Julie James in the first two films. Hewitt’s return was long reported, but it took a bit of time for the news to become official, which caused some to worry that a deal couldn’t be reached to bring her back. Nevertheless, a deal was made, and now Hewitt’s return is being teased in a set image featuring a perfect callback to the 1997 horror hit that started it all.

Director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson took toInstagramto tease fans about Hewitt’s return with a behind-the-scenes image from the set of theI Know What You Did Last Summerlegacy sequel, which features a piece of mail addressed to one Julie James. Eagle-eyed fans of the franchise will notice that the writing on the envelope is practically identical to the very first letter that the character received one year after Julie and her friends killed a man in a deadly hit-and-run (and body-dump), which led to the group being targeted by a vengeful fisherman. The caption on the image was short and sweet, with the director writing,“She’s baaaaaack!”

15 Underrated ’90s Slashers Worth Revisiting

The 1990s had to follow after the slashers-ridden 1980s, and most films failed to impress. However, the following slasher films are worth revisiting.

Hewitt won’t be alone in her return to the ’90s franchise as Freddie Prinze Jr. is also returning as Ray Bronson, having last appeared with the actress in 1998’sI Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Prinze Jr.’s return wasfinalized before Hewitt’s, and he had been shooting with some of the film’s new cast in Australia, a moment thatwas teased by his wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who also appeared in the first movie but didn’t make it out alive. After Hewitt officially signed on, Prinze Jr. revealed he had more to shoot in the sequel and that some of those scenes would be with Hewitt.
