Beefseason 2 is headed to Netflix, and it could mark an on-screen reunion forJake GyllenhaalandAnne Hathaway. According to a report fromDeadline, the two actors (who previously collaborated inBrokeback MountainandLove & Other Drugs) are being eyed to star alongside Charles Melton (May December) and Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla). There are no deals in place with any of the four actors at this time.

The upcoming season, which has already been written, will follow in its predecessor’s footsteps and will center on a feud. This time around, though, the “beef” will be between two couples (Spaeny and Melton would portray one of the couples, with Hathaway and Gyllenhaal starring as the other). A24 and Netflix expect to go into production for Season Two by late summer or fall.

Beef Season 2 Going After Dream Cast

While Gyllenhaal, Hathaway, Spaeny, and Melton are not yet confirmed to star in the series, the idea of the four talented actors uniting on-screen - coupled withBeef’s successful season one outing - points towards a promising sophomore season.

Gyllenhaal has done some of his best work on-screen working alongside Hathaway: earning a BAFTA and nominations for the Academy Award, Critics' Choice and SAG Award for Best Supporting Actor for 2005’sBrokeback Mountain, and a Golden Globe nomination for his work on 2011’sLove & Other Drugs.Gyllenhaal will next appear inDoug Liman’sRoad House(a reimagining of Rowdy Herrington’s 1989 film starring Patrick Swayze).Road Housewill premiere at South by Southwest on March 8, before heading to Prime Video on March 21.
