Supermandirector and leader of the new DCU, James Gunn, continues to set the record straight. As DC preps for the release of the highly-anticipated iconic superherofilm of this summer, fans are receiving more trailers and teasers showing offPearlactorDavid Corenswet’s performance of the most legendary superhero of them all. The newest teaser for the film, set to release on Jul. 11, shows off Superman’s fan-favorite abilities, which has some fans thinking CGI must have been used on the actor’s face in one epic shot. However, Gunn replied to a Threads' comment to clear up the confusion.
Corenswet has gone from running from tornadoes inTwistersto being a twister-sized force, rocketing through an icy tundra.A recently released teaser gets up close and personal with the flying hero in a shot that can best be described as chill-inducing.But this close-up,moving shot is deceiving some fans' eyes, as Corenswet’s well-known face looks slightly different than in other shots of the movie. This led one Threads user to comment on Gunn’s post of the latest teaser saying,“Looks dope!! Great camera angle of Superman flying!! Except there’s something with his face that looks a little off. I know there’s plenty of time to refine the CG. 🤙🏻”

Gunn politely responded to the comment to clear up the confusion over why Corenswet’s face looks different in the flying close-up, explaining that the wide-angle lens used in the shot can distort people’s faces in a close-up.
“There is absolutely zero CG in his face. People’s faces can look different when you put a wide angle lens up close. The background plate in Svalbard is 100% real as is David.” -James Gunn

Gunn also confirmed that the background plate of the shot is also real footage of Svalbard, an island in the Kingdom of Norway, adding to the realness of the fantastical shot.

One commenter voiced their excitement by saying,“OMG that last shot of him flying through the iceberg gave me chills of excitement! Cannot wait for this movie!“It’s clear that Gunn’s practical work has already paid off, especially in that epic shot that embodies the essence ofSupermanaction.

The DC Universe is set to reboot with this year’s release of ‘Superman.’ But here’s why ‘Harley Quinn’ has a much better chance to shine.
Many life-long fans are continuously hit with the realization that Gunn is doing the red and blue superhero justice, and this teaser was no exception. One commenter wrote,“I remember as a kid sitting in a theatre watching Superman. When Chris Reeves ducked into the ally and ripped his shirt revealing the Red S underneath, the theatre erupted.Gunn’s pre-Christmas previewmade me feel like that kid in the theatre back then.I think we’re in for a real treat.”

Clearly, the DCU and the visionary leading it have fans' attention and respect. The clock continues to slowly count down to Juy 11, where it all begins for the rebooted DC Universe.
