Portraying the misguided, villainous aristocratic Lucius Malfoy in theHarry Pottersaga introducedJason Isaacsto a global audience 20 years ago. However, being recognized as one of the franchise’s memorable antagonists means that fan interactions come in many shapes and sizes, as the actor recently relayed in an interview withThe Telegraph.

Despite his dubiously-intentioned role in the story of Harry Potter, Lucius Malfoy and his family don’t quite end the story as complete bad guys and gain some kind of redemptive moment as the Battle of Hogwarts reaches its crescendo – albeit as a pack of cowards high-tailing it away from the chaos. For Isaacs, though, even the villains of a story draw a crowd when out in public, which can lead to some peculiar moments when one has to wonder if they are still in some kind of heightened fantasy version of reality that the movies take place in. The actor recalled one moment in particular that happened atThe Wizarding World of Harry Pottertheme park at Universal Orlando. He said:

Richard Harris as Albus Dumbledore wearing long robes sitting with a golden mug in Harry Potter

“I remember being in Harry Potter World in Orlando [The Wizarding World of Harry Potter], and the whole cast had gone. We’d been in blazing heat, signing autographs and taking selfies, and right at the end a woman standing there goes, ‘Will you sign my breasts?’ and shot open her shirt. I go, ‘Madam, please stop. There’s kids everywhere.’ She goes, ‘I have eight kids.’ I said, ‘Well, what would they say?’ They were standing alongside her going, ‘Sign them, sign them!’”

Jason Isaacs Says He Could Have Written ‘Baby Reindeer’

Although there are plenty of fun moments to be had when interacting with fans, especially for a franchise as involving and wide-reaching as theHarry PotterIP, Isaacs did add that there are other times that are not quite as fondly remembered. He added:

“That’s the amusing worst. The actual worst I’ve had is stalkers. Proper stalkers. Court cases and people dragged away outside my house by police and dogs. When I saw Baby Reindeer, I thought ‘I should have written it first.’”

For those who somehow missedNetflix’s huge 2024 drama seriesBaby Reindeer, the series was based on the reportedly true experiences of comedian Richard Gadd, telling the story of how a comedian finds himself becoming the target of unwanted attention from a fan. While the story off-screen became almost as dramatic as on it – with Gadd and Netflix becoming the subject of legal action from the “real fan” the series was based on for it ruining her life – the tale it told is one that has been experienced by many celebrities when fans do not know where to draw the line.

‘Harry Potter’ Fans Have the Same Bleak Outlook and Complaint About Recent Dumbledore Casting News

‘Harry Potter’ fans have voiced their concerns over the recent news that John Lithgow is now favorite to take on the role of Dumbledore.

Currently, theHarry Potterstory is set to return to screens in a brand-new TV series based on the novels of J.K. Rowling, and that will pitch a completely new set of stars into the same fandom arena that Isaacs is still part of. No doubt, the actor who becomes the new Lucius Malfoywill have some big boots to fill in the eyes of fans – just like many of the key roles in the highly scrutinized series – but will also find himself on the end of some strange and possibly unwanted fan interactions in time.
