Last summer, the sequelJurassic Worldproved to be a blockbuster smash hit without the assistance of its original cast in place. Sure,B.D. Wongshowed back up as Dr. Henry Wu, but the main players from the original trilogy all stayed away from the set. That might not happen withJurassic World 2, with some speculating that eitherSam Neill,Laura DernorJeff Goldblummight return for more dinosaur fun. While the first two actors haven’t yet chimed in with their thoughts on the matter,Jeff Goldblumgave the perfect answer when asked if he wanted to reprise his role as Dr. Malcolm. It’s a resounding ‘Maybe.’

WhileJurassic World 2still doesn’t have adirector attachedafterColin Trevorrowbailed to doStar Wars: Episode IX, the movie is still very muchin developmentat Universal Studios. And while noJurassic World 2 plot detailshave been revealed, it is believed that this sequel to the franchise reboot will further explore the idea of usingdinosaurs as weaponsof mass destruction, which was introduced inJurassic World. It has been confirmed thatChris PrattandBryce Dallas Howardwill both be back. Other than that, no further casting has been announced.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Interestingly enough, Dr. Ian Malcolm did make an Easter egg cameo inJurassic World. We got to see that the character was still lingering around this universe via an appearance of his book God Created Dinosaurs. Though, that certainly doesn’t compare to having the real guy show up in the flesh. Speaking withFandango,Jeff Goldblumrevealed that he is very open to appearing inJurassic World 2. Yet, at the same time, he’s also very happy with the two movies he made in this saga, the original 1994Jurassic Parkand its immediate sequel,The Lost World: Jurassic Park 2, which opened in 1997. He states the following.

“I’m nothing if not open. I’m like an open-faced sandwich. My door is not always open - I took the door off. I removed the hinges from the door. I’m too open. I’m like a chicken piccata. What was I about to say? Oh yes, the two [Jurassic] movies I did with them were plenty. If I never did anything more, I’d certainly be well satisfied.”

Jurassic World

Jurassic World 2is planned for 2018. Though it’s unclear when another official announcement about the movie will be made. OriginalJurassic ParkdirectorSteven Spielbergwill be back to produce, just as he did onJurassic World.Jeff Goldblumwill next be seen in a sequel to his other blockbuster hit of the 90s,Independence Day: Resurgence. So, the man is obviously not opposed to indulging in a little bit of movie nostalgia. At this time, we have no further details to go on.
