Last week, a report surfaced thatArmie Hammermay be joining aDCEU movie, after it was discovered that he was recently followed on Twitter by DC Films presidentGeoff JohnsandJoe Manganiello, who has been confirmed to play Deathstroke inBen Affleck’sThe Batman. This lead to a wave of speculation that the actor may be joining the DCEU in some capacity, whether it be inThe BatmanorGreen Lantern Corps, which the actor seemingly picked up on. He sent out a series of tweets teasing a major announcement, which ended up just being that the actor will ‘play his old guitar’. NowJoe Manganiellohas gotten in on the act, posting photos of himself and Armie Hammer ‘burning the midnight oil’.

Armie Hammer shared the same photo but with a different caption on hisInstagramreading “Men at work.” The photo has both actors looking at an iPad. We can’t see what’s actually on the tablet, or if this means thatArmie Hammerhas in fact joinedThe Batmanin some capacity, but it’s also possible that this is all just a ruse perpetuated by the actors, after the initial story broke that he also started followingJoe Manganielloon Twitter.

Joe Manganielloalso posted another photo fromArmie Hammer’s wifeElizabeth Hammer, which showsArmie,ElizabethandJoe Manganiellowith his wife,Modern FamilystarSofia Vergara. While some fans may scoff at Twitter activity and Instagram photos being used as clues to decipher casting mysteries, some sites correctly predicted thatRick Famuyiwawould come aboard to direct a DC movie, after he started following several DC-related Twitter accounts. Shortly thereafter, he signed on to directThe Flash, although he would later drop out due to creative differences.

Many fans are excited forArmie Hammerto join the DCEU because he almost starred in a DC movie nearly a decade ago, although it never came to fruition. Back in 2007,George Millerwas set to write and directJustice League: Mortal, which featured a cast full of rising stars, but the film never went into production thanks to the writers strike.Armie Hammerwas set to play Batman, alongsideD.J. Cotronaas Superman,Megan Galeas Wonder Woman,Adam Brodyas The Flash,Commonas Green Lantern,Santiago Cabreraas Aquaman,Teresa Palmeras Talia Al Ghul,Zoe Kazanas Iris Allen,Hugh Keays-Byrneas Martian Manhunter andJay Baruchelas Maxwell Lord.

As forThe Batman,Ben Affleckwill be reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman, withJoe Manganiello’s Deathstroke as the main villain. No other cast members have been confirmed forThe Batman, which may be eyeing a late 2018 release date, although that has yet to be confirmed.Ben Affleckis directing from a script he co-wrote with DC Films presidentGeoff Johns. No other casting or characters have been confirmed forThe Batmanyet, but there has been speculation that this superhero adventure will feature almost every major Batman villain, excpet the Red Hood, whose involvement has been denied.
