As you may well know, AMC’sThe Walking Deadis returning in a few days with the Season 7 premiere, where fans will finally learn whoNegan’s victim is. With a new season beginning soon, some may want to revisit the entire season from the very beginning, but if you don’t have the time to commit to a six-season marathon, then perhaps you’ll enjoy a four-minute video withJohn Cleesebreaking down the entire show. If, for some reason, you haven’t seen the show at all, it will also provide a brief yet comprehensive rundown on all of the major plot points, along with several rules, including the first, which is that zombies are called “walkers.”
Now TVreleased a new four-minute video whereJohn Cleeseexpediently recaps the entire series, in a humorous way that only the Monty Python alum could pull off. The video goes all the way back to the pilot episode, as we meetRick Grimes(Andrew Lincoln) as he makes his way out of a zombie-filled Atlanta hospital, and ends up meeting a young pizza delivery driver named Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun).John Cleesedescribes Rick as a more sensitive version ofClint Eastwood, which is quite fitting, when taken into account all of Rick’s emotional breakdowns.
John Cleesegoes on to make fun of Rick’s tendency to call his son Carl (Chandler Riggs) “Coral,” while touching on the Season 1 finale at the CDC, which isn’t quite as safe as one would expect. This comedy legend goes on to describe the iconicMichonneas “Slicey McGee,” who he compares toUma ThurmaninKill Bill, while briefly going through their transition from Herschel’s (Scott Wilson) farm to the prison in Season 2 and Season 3.John Cleesealso makes sure that casual fans realize that every ray of hope the survivors get, means they’re about to take a turn for the worse, according to the show’s second rule that “There Are No Safe Places.”
The video then moves on to Season 4, whereThe Governor(David Morrissey), or, “Patchy Pete” asJohn Cleesecalls him, attacks the prison, before revealing the third “lesson” of the show, to “Never Look at the Flowers,” a reference to a controversial scene with Carol (Melissa McBride) and Lizzie (Brighton Sharbino). The video then goes on to discuss The Claimers, whichJohn Cleesehilariously mistakes for the band The Proclaimers, while also making fun of Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Eugene (Josh McDermitt) coming from the “set ofMagnum P.I.”.
John Cleesewraps up the video by breezing through Seasons 5 and 6, with Rick and his crew finding their way toAlexandriaand eventually to the Season 6 finale where they meet Negan. Now TV is even asking fans to tweet with a number of different hashtags to indicate which character you want to save. For instance, if you want Glenn to be spared, you would use the hashtag #SaveGlennNow, or replace Glenn’s name with whichever character you don’t want to see killed by Negan.
