When the firstJurassic Worldtrailer debuted last year, one of the coolest moments was when the gigantic Mosasaurus jumps out of its containment tank to eat a great white shark. We now have a poster that features the dinosaur, making his debut in this fourth franchise adventure, as he chases a living great white right before a tourist’s eyes. Its pretty awe-inspiring to behold, and should be quite thrilling in IMAX 3D. We also have a hand full of new images that featureChris Pratt,Bryce Dallas Howard,Vincent D’Onofrio,Nick RobinsonandTy Simpkins. And if that wasn’t enough to make your Saturday worthwhile, we also have new details about Jurassic World fromEntertainment Weekly’s big summer preview.

Some of the movie’s park sequences were actually shot inside New Orleans Six Flags, which has been closed since Hurricane Katrina. The action in Jurassic World takes place at a sprawling amusement park residing on the Isla Nublar 22 years after the events seen in the originalJurassic Park. This is a thriving tourist destination with an elaborate main street, visitor center, gift shops and restaurants. At the forefront of the action isChris Prattas Owen Grady, a dinosaur trainer who runs with his own pack of raptors. He is joined byBryce Dallas Howardas Claire Dearing, park operations manager, andVincent D’Onofrioas Vic Hoskins, head of security operations for InGen. Also along for the ride areNick RobinsonandTy Simpkinsas Claire’s nephews Zach and Gray, who get lost inside the park while a giant DNA-altered monstrosity known as D-Rex (Indominous Rex) terrorizes the island. At one point in the movie, all of them will be running from fast flying pteranodons.

There will also be a scene in Jurassic World that pays direct homage toJurassic Park, with the two young nephews attacked in their Gyrosphere. It will play out almost exactly as the iconic T-Rex vs the Ford Explorer sequence. Explains directorColin Trevorrow:

“There’s a ride at the park that allows you to get into a gyroscopic sphere and be out in the wild with dinosaurs and travel beneath them-and that goes horribly wrong. Imagine being inside a sphere and then suddenly it breaks and you’re rolling like a cat with a ball of yarn.”

Bryce Dallas Howardis said to experience an Ellen Ripley-like transformation in the film as she sets out to protect her nephews. And if you saw the first clip, which saw Owen and Claire trading banter, know that this relationship is based on the love-hate electricity first seen inRomancing the Stone. The duo have been on one date. But they aren’t exactly fond of each other. About that, the director says:

“They don’t like each other at all, and by the end that’s changed. We think that [classic conceit] absolutely can apply to a dinosaur movie.”

you may check out some of the electricity that will spark on screen this summer with these latest photos, which also show the gyrosphere in action as the nephews enjoy a much happier time…Before they are hunted down by the D-Rex. What do you think? Is this the movie you can’t miss this summer? Or will it play just fine when it hits VOD in the fall?
