Production wrapped earlier this summer onPirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, after a five-month shoot in Australia. Since this highly-anticipated sequel isn’t set to hit theaters until June 23, 2025, it isn’t known when fans may expect the first trailer. One of the new additions to the franchise inPirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No TalesisKaya Scodelario, who revealed some new details about the pirate adventure while promoting her sequelThe Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, in theaters September 18. During an interview withDigital Spy, the actress revealed that this follow-up will remind fans of the very first adventure with Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), 2003’sPirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl.

“It [does have] a lot more of the first movie, that’s what they wanted to bring it back to. [The producers] want to take it back to the beginning again. They wanted it to have this epic journey, and for it to make sense, and for it to tie things up, and also lead to new storylines.”

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luckCaptain Jack Sparrowfinds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. “[Carina] is an astronomer, and she is an academic. She’s fighting for the right to study at university, because women couldn’t at that time. So she’s on her own journey - looking for the trident of Poseidon - and she has a diary with clues, and she encounters Jack Sparrow along the way, and he messes everything up. As he does. And it’s fun!”
