The Fantastic Four: First Stepsis proving to be a big box office winner for Marvel Studios, but whatever the film ends on in terms of box office gross, it will likely pale in comparison to what is coming next.Spider-Man: Brand New Day will obviously be a big moneyspinner, and then we get into the even bigger guns whenAvengers: Doomsdayarrives as the beginning of the end for the Multiverse saga.Kevin Feigehas now teased the coming together of the Fantastic Four, Avengers, and original X-Men in next December’s release, and how it is a dream in the making.

For a while now, there has been a rumor circulating on social media thatAvengers: Doomsdaywill primarily take place in three universes: Earth-616, The Fantastic Four’s Earth-828, and the universe that featured Beast and Binary at the end ofThe Marvels. Feige’s latest comments clearly prove this theory to be correct, after he mentioned that the Baxter Building, seen inThe Fantastic Four: First Steps, will have “a heck of a lot more people in it” whenDoomsdaycomes. Check out his interview withMarvel.com:

MARVEL.COM: This film directly leads into Avengers: Doomsday, which you’re filming now. What can you tell us about how the Fantastic Four will fit in with the Avengers and the X-Men?

KEVIN FEIGE: That’s always fun. The fun of an Avengers movie is introducing people to each other and seeing how very different personalities get along. In the case of a movie that involves the threat of worlds literally colliding, it’s fun to see them visit each other’s homes. So with the Baxter Building set, let’s say it had four or five people in it at most in the Fantastic Four movie. And it’s got a heck of a lot more people in it [in Doomsday]. It’s a thrill to see that interaction. And it’s surreal for me, who’s been around for 25 years.

Kevin Feige Finally Confirms the ‘Fantastic Four’ & ‘Doomsday’ Connection We Already Knew

The studio president was sure to stress the importance of the upcoming Marvel film to ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’

MARVEL.COM: I was going to say: You started your career working on those original X-Men movies. What does it mean to revisit some of those characters in Doomsday?

KEVIN FEIGE: It was another dream that we just didn’t think about for many years. Deadpool & Wolverine scratched the surface of that. And now, we’re really delving into it with Doomsday.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Will Bring the X-Men Back in a Big Way

When themain cast ofAvengers: Doomsdaywas announced via a warehouse full of chairs, the names of several stars of the old Fox X-Men movies surprised many fans. Some names, such as Patrick Stewart, were possibly not that much of a surprise considering the actor has reprised his role as Professor X recentlyin Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Others, like Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Alan Cumming were a bit more unexpected.

However, with so many characters set to appear on screen together, seemingly more than even appeared inAvengers: Endgame, some fans have theorized that the X-Men’s screentime will be limited, and the old team will likely be dispatched within the opening act of the movie. Feige’s latest comments seem to suggest that the X-Men, or at least some of them, will have a bigger role to play in the movie than anyone first thought.

The next few years are going to bring superhero cinema back in a big way thanks to both Marvel and DC, and don’t even try to mention the word fatigue.
