It seemed almost certain at one point that Dwayne Johnson and co would be heading back to the jungle foranotherJumaniadventure, but then a few things happened, such as the Covid pandemic and Johnson’s attempt to becoming a central pillar of the DCU as Black Adam. With both of those things now in the past, does that meanJumanji 4is a go? According to Johnson’s co-starKevin Hartit may well be.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Junglewas a huge hit in 2017, reviving the classic Robin Williams movie of the 90s and giving it a big CGI update for new audiences. This led to the sequel,Jumanji: The Next Levelin 2019, and at the time it seemed that another movie was inevitable. However, thanks to the onset of the Covid pandemic and Dwayne Johnson’s schedule becoming very busy thanks to other projects he got his eye on, the project had gone from a sure thing to a maybe if it happens.

Dwayne Johnson in Jumanji_ Welcome to the Jungle

Kevin Hart was asked aboutJumanji 4on the Oscars red carpet byVariety, and gave what seems to be a very encouraging update for fans of the adventure franchise. He said:

“We’re going to have to do it soon. I talked to [Dwayne Johnson] the day before yesterday. Right now, we got the ball rolling on some big ideas.”

Jumanji 4 Seems To Be A Banker For Dwayne Johnson.

With his possible central role in the DCU having collapsed, there is now a question of which projects will take the former wrestler’s fancy in the immediate future. He himself addressedthe fate ofBlack Adamin his own interview at the Academy Awards ceremony. He said:

“You know, all that I could do, and that we could do, when we were making Black Adam was to put our best foot forward, surround ourselves with the best people, and also, to deliver the best movie we could. The audience score was in the 90s. Critics took a couple of shots. That’s just the business of it, though. I think it’s almost like when you have a pro football team, and your quarterback wins championships, the head coach wins championships, and you have a new owner. And the new owner comes in, and says, ‘Not my coach, not my quarterback, I’m gonna go with someone new.'”

This could suggest that Johnson has to fall back on some of the franchises he already had in play before taking on the role of Black Adam, including Netflix’sRed Noticeand theJumanjimovies. While Netflix were reported to have green lit twoRed Noticesequels even before the movie became one of their biggest original debuts, there has been little said of them since.Jumanji 4could well turn out to be the banker that Johnson is looking for.

Before any of that, the actor will be seenthis December inRed Oneon Prime Video, a new festive action movie that co-stars Chris Evans and J.K. Simmons in the role of Santa Claus.
