Back in January, Fox confirmed that the network has given the green light for a new installment of their iconic series24, entitled24: Legacy. While many of the producers from the original24series are coming back, such asHoward Gordon, the show will feature an entirely new cast, without original24starKiefer Sutherlandas Jack Bauer. The producers have hinted thatKiefer Sutherlandmay be open to returning in a much smaller role, perhaps a cameo, and it seems that may still happen.
Hitfixspoke with producerHoward Gordonat the ATX Television Festival, where the producer was honored for his work in television, including24,Homelandand many more hit shows. While nothing seems to be set in stone yet, the producer teased that he would still like to seeJack Bauerreturn. Here’s what the producer had to say below.
“I do think the character has life in him, whether it’s a movie or if he intersects with this new iteration of 24. I sure would love to see him at some point on the show, and I don’t think [Kiefer]’s ruled it out, either.”
It’s worth noting that, shortly after24: Legacywas announced,Kiefer Sutherlandsaid that24is “over” for him, and the franchise is moving on without him. However, earlier this year, he signed on as a producer, and teased that the script is great, hinting that he may actually come back as Jack Bauer. Fox issued aseries orderfor the show back in May, with Fox eyeing a midseason premiere for the show.
