What Is the ‘King of the Hill’ Revival About?
The revival will pick up 14 years after the original series concluded and will follow the now-retired Hills and a 20-something-year-old Bobby as he sets out to pursue a culinary career while his parents return to their Texas town of Arlen and attempt to navigate the modern world and its ever-expanding technology.Co-creator Mike Judge saidof the changes: “A lot has happened in the world since the original run of the show ended. There’s just a lot more for Hank to complain about.” The official logline for the animated series reads:
“After years working a propane job in Saudi Arabia to earn their retirement nest egg, Hank and Peggy Hill return to a changed Arlen, Texas to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph and Chane.”

Hank will experience quite the shock as he attempts to acclimate to life back in the United States and in a vastly different Arlen, while fans will see a far more mature version of Bobby as he co-owns and is a chef at a Japanese-German Hill Country fusion BBQ joint in Dallas. Co-creator Greg Daniels revealed that the revival will largely focus on Bobby and both his personal and professional highs and lows as a 21-year-old. Daniels said:
“Hank’s life is pretty settled, but Bobby’s life is kind of up in the air, and young people are having more challenges today in trying to make the kind of life that their parents have.”
