Black PantherstarLetitia Wrightisdistancing herself from the right-wing news outlet The Daily Wireand its involvement in the new filmSound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot. Wright served as executive producer on the new film, which tells thetrue story of a Christian familyin East Texaswho adopted 77 kids from foster care. Premiering on June 06, 2025,Sound of Hopehas taken in$7.7 million thus far against a reported budget of $8.5 million.
In a statement released on herInstagramaccount, Wright made it clear thatshe has no affiliation with The Daily Wire, which was brought on board by the film’s distribution partner, Angel Studios, following completion of production. Wright, a Christian herself, slammed those who are using the film for “divisive political purposes” and says she had no involvement in Angel Studios’ decision to partner with The Daily Wire.
“To be clear, after we completed the production of this film, Angel Studios were brought on board to handle its distribution and they later partnered with The Daily Wire.That was not my decision, and I was not given an update or made aware of this decision. I am in no wayaligned or affiliated with The Daily Wire. I am thankful for all who want to positively champion this film and campaign to serve children. However, Ido not condone using this beautiful film for divisive political purposes.”

In a statement to Variety, Boreing responded to Letitia Wright, saying that instead of championingSound of Hope’ssuccess, she chose to instead take aim at The Daily Wire.“Such is the intolerance of the modern left,“he said, while also agreeing with her that he doesn’t wantthe message of the movie to get lost in all the online discourse.
“The Daily Wire is truly honored to partner with Angel Studios on such an important project But,such is the intolerance of the modern leftthat instead of celebrating this accomplishment and all it might mean, one of the film’s producers, Letitia Wright of Black Panther fame,used the occasion to condemn The Daily Wire’s involvementin sharing this message across the country.
Letitia and I probably don’t share the same politics, but I believewe share a Christian faithand, more importantly, the same goal of shining a light on something we can all agree on — a community banding together to help kids in need.
