The Lord of the RingsstarViggo Mortensenhas revealedwhat it will take to persuade him to reprise the role of Aragorn in the upcoming prequel,Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. And we can only hope that one of them doesn’t happen. In a new interview withTHR, Mortensen, who played the role of Ranger of the North and future King throughout the originalLord of the Ringstrilogy, says his possible comeback all depends on the script…or his bank balance.

“I haven’t read a script. So I don’t know. The script is the most important thing to me unless I’m broke, I have no money and I’m lucky to get any job. So it depends.”

Of course, considering his success on the big screensince his breakthrough role as Aragorn, it’s unlike that Mortensen will ever worry about a job. So, let’s just hope that the script forThe Hunt for Gollumis good enough to tempt him back, which is something that many fans would no doubt love to see happen.

This is not the first timethat Mortensen has addressed a potential return to Middle-earth, revealing thatGQthat he will “only do it” if it’s right for the character.

“Sure. I don’t know exactly what the story is, I haven’t heard. Maybe I’ll hear about it eventually. I like playing that character. I learned a lot playing the character. I enjoyed it a lot. I would only do it if I was right for it in terms of, you know, the age I am now and so forth. I would only do it if I was right for the character. It would be silly to do it otherwise.”
