And he will be speaking out about everything that has happened to him since we last saw him in jail during the final episode of the hit series last winter.
Steven Avery was the main subject in Netflix’s Emmy award winning true crime series. Convicted of amurderhe claims he didn’t commit, Avery will be calling into the daytime talk show. It will be a two-part episode, with the first half debuting on October 3. The interview segment will conclude on October 4. You’ll have to check local listings for an exact airtime in your area.
Steven Avery is stilllocked in prison. This is the sole reason for him being unable to appear in person. Though, appearing on the actual show in his absence will be his new fiancee Lynn Hartman. She will be sitting down with Dr. Phil. While Avery will be talking about his time behind bars and what is currently happening with his case, Hartman is said to be discussing the romantic relationship that has formed between the two.
The Dr. Phil interview will be Steven Avery’s first public appearance sinceMaking a Murdererdebuted in December. The man has been behind bars since 2007, when he was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach. Netflix’s series Making a Murderer presents facts and ideas that help prove that Avery is innocent, and that he may have been framed by the local police holding a grudge against him.
Steven Avery’s nephewBrendan Dasseywas convicted in connection with the Halbach murder. Since the show aired, Dassey, believed to have given a false confession under oath, has had his conviction overturned. Making a Murderer helped with this.
To this day, Avery maintains that he is innocent in the murder ofTeresa Halbach. He has told Dr. Phil that he doesn’t want to marry his fiancee until he is free. He says this in an official statement provided toTVLine.
“I want to wait ‘till I’m out, and I don’t think that’ll be too long. Right around the corner.”
Netflix has already announced thatMaking a MurdererSeason 2 is happening. Though, they have yet to confirm a release date for these new episodes. The series will continue to show all of the developments in the Avery case following the conclusion of Season 1 in 2015.
